Buddihism

Buddihisim is one of the religions which I hold a deep resepct for and have always had a certain fascination and intrest in. Some of my own philosophies and beleifs are taken from Eastern Ideology. Buddhisim is tremendously complext and there are so many different fractions of it. I remeber readding Sidharattha by Herman Hesse, and the book realy spoke to me, and I would highly recomend it. I could relate to it in a deep spritual way, and with that beind said I just thought I would post a little about the Buddhist path.

The Four Noble Truths

1. Life is pain, suffring and missery or dukkah
2. Cause of suffering is selfish craving and personal desire or tanka
3. Selfish craving can be overcome
4. The way to overcome this misery is through the Eightfold Path

The Eightfold Path

1. Right knowledge is knowlege of what lif is all about (The Four Basic Truths)
2. Right aspiration means a clear devotion to being on the path toward enlightenment
3. Right speach includes both clairty of what is said and speaking without malice
4. Right behavior envolves reflecting on ones behavior and reasons for it. Also the 5 basic laws: do not kill, do not lie, do not drink intoxicants and do not comit sexual offences
5. Right livelihood involves choosing the occupation that keeps an individual on a path that premotes life and well being rather then earning a lot of money
6. Right effort means training the will and curbing selfish passions and wants. Placing oneself on the path toward enlightenment
7. Right mindfulness implies conitnuing self excamination and awareness
8. Right conentration is the final goal.

Thanks for posting about Buddhism. I respect Buddhism as well because it is such a wonderful religion. They do not kill animals and are peaceful people. I really respect Buddhists as well.
