Labyrinth of the Mind

Winter Writing Contest

Posted in Writing

I have decided to try something new which will hopefully be fun for all of you writers out there. I am want to start hosting writing contests, and if this first one goes well I will continue to host more, but if this turns out to be a dud, then I might only give it one or two more tries.

So you might be wondering, if it is a contest, what do I get if I win? Well unfortunately I cannot offer cash prizes, sorry, if that is what you were hoping for, but maybe in the future I might be in a posistion to do so if this goes well and I continue to stick with it. Only time will tell, for now, what you will get is the satisfaction of knowing you were the best, and extra exposure and recgonition, I will feature the winning story on my blog, and if you have any websites, or anywhere else you display your work, send me the link with your story entry and I will post that as well so those who like your work can check out more of your stuff, so you might pick up a few more fans as well.

So what are the rules? Pretty simple really

Be as creative as possible, I am not looking to read the same stories retold, use this as the oppertunity to really express yourself. Give me as much orgininality as you can.

stories should be at least 5,000 words, there is really no max, but no novels please. Try to keep short story in mind.

All ages welcome to enter the contest and though this blog itself is of a mature nature, and thus you may make your stories R-rated if you wish, don't censor yourself, pornograpahy will not be accepted.

And I think that is about it for rules.

How to subtmit your story?

Email your story to WhimsicalWarrior@aol.com

Do not forget to inculde your name, or a pen name so I can give you cridit if you win, and any links you might want enculded as well.

So what to write about?

In the nature of this holidy season, I am looking for stories that are about Christmass, Yule/Winter Solistice, Hannakah, etc. of if you prefer just winter in genreal.

It may be any genre. Fantasy, Horrory, Sci-fi, drama, comdy, and so on.

You may start submiting entries now, and the contest will go all through Decemeber, it is my wish to have the winner posted and annoruanced by the last day of Decemeber.

Have fun!

Any questions? E-mail me or leave your comments on this post, or PM me if you like.

Sounds cool Silver. I will try to participate...but I am training for my new job at H & R Block, plus there are other stories I am working on. I would like to participate however.

Blessings!

The reward works perfectly for me. I do have a few ideas, and maybe they'll even materialize. No promises, though.

Hi, Silverwind,

This looks interesting enough that I might make an attempt. I have a slight idea from which to build, so I will get to work. :o)

Thanks for the opportunity!

Well, I did start doing some research for an idea I've had for at least a year now. The research I'm doing is into near death experiences. I know for sure I won't make your end of December deadline, but if I do manage to write the story, you'll be one of the first to read it. There is an end of year theme to it as well, so I won't publish it on my blog before next October. If it goes as hoped, you'll get a really huge head start on the rest of my audience.
