Guiding Light
A new beginning arises
and the light comes to my eyes
to guide me from the darkness
I follow a voice kind and gentle,
a caressing hand to drive away
demons which dwell inside.
I follow through the maze
of twisted walls and dead ends,
things forgotten and stored away
but a path is cleared by a lovers
presence to carve a trail made
of rose petals.
My trust given freely I
surrender myself and look
to the stars for a deep new meaning
I know at last, wherever I stand,
as long as you are beside me
then I am home.

There are so many things I like about this poem. First,
it reminds me of my other favorite from a few days
ago, and so it makes me wonder about your personal
mythology that drives you. At times, I feel like I do
when I read Blake, that is to say, vitally aware that
I'm not in Kansas anymore...and I like that feeling.
The same feeling I got when I first read Tolkien as a
boy, there's a larger universe present, and we get to
hear about it at times. That makes for real depth.
Thanks again for the poetry. Can't wait to see what's
next.
