Our Gift
I saw within your eyes
something beautiful
and I knew in a moment
at first breath that you
were to be mine.
Through past pain and
old scars, I discovered
the tenderness deep within
awaiting to be restored
through gentle touches
and kind words.
I would ease away the
nightmares, and remain
by your side, as you
surround me in security
and keep me safe from
the world outside.
Never would I fear again,
and never would allow
pain to touch you,
I would stroke it all away
with sweet kisses and
words of love.
You have brought to my
mind, a peace so rare,
and into my heart at last
a happiness found, and now
I could not allow it to be
taken all away.
I will be your shelter
from the rain, and your
warmth in the cold,
I will chase away the
dreams that keep you
up at night.
To you I give myself
and take with the
greatest care, all that
you would give to me.
