My Venture in the art of Belly DancingWell I have been so far quite obcessed my determination to learn belly dancing, and cannot seem to tear myself away. It was extremely complicated and rather exhausting but I love it, and I just thought I would go in a little more detail about my learning now.
Learning each of individaul movements alone is really not that bad, espcially once you start to get the hang of it more, and well lucky for me, a lot of the hip movements mirror those that I had to learn and use in the Latin dances such as salsa so that movement is familleer to me. The way the booklet is set up is that is set up to teach each different movement seperately, so it has a section for all the different hip movements, and one for belly movement, rib cage, head, and arms. And so it is great for learning each sperate movement and getting use to them and you can then really conventrate on areas that are more difficult and so forth, but what really gets tricky is trying to get everything to then work together, and to get my body to work in all these different ways at once in a fluid movement so everything goes together and flows into each other.
It is in this, that I really am hoping I can get a class, becasue I think in the more hands on envrioment of a class and being able to see how it acutly looks before my eyes will help in getting the right rhythm and pattern down, where the book really helps in adapting the body to the basic moves, so in this I think that the book and a class could really compliment each other.
Also when I get the chance to I think I might try getting all decked out in belly dancing gear and putting on some good music and trying to put something together and just see where the music takes me. Though I do not have an offical costume I have a few odds and ends I could use, some varrious scarves, and long skirts, and bells and chimes and so forth that I can put something together with.
For now I am not going anywhere near the cymbols though it has a thing in the back that gives tips and suggestion for how to use them, I am just going to concentrate on the movement for now, I do not need to through anything else to further complicate things, but maybe I will add those in as a new element to try and work with once I find more of a grove with everything else and get the movements down more.
I am hoping to work with it some more tormorrow. 5:06 PM - 1/10/2007 - post comment
