Ventures in belly dancing count.Perservence has prevailed, I have finally mastered the dreadful snake arms. I no longer really need the book anymore at this point, becasue I pretty much have each over the movements memorized so I can just go through them and practice without have to stop and look it up first. I have also discovered the best way to acutally get something going and to put together something even remotely resembles a dance opposed to just working through each movement individually is to just put on some music, close my eyes, and let my body the rythem of the music, and flow with the tune, without thinking about it, or without spefically trying to go through the motions of belly dancing, but to just move freely, and now and then through in a belly roll, or snake arms, or hip drop, and so on if it feels right to do at that moment, but if I do something that is not "belly dancing" persae then that is ok too just keep moving. Instead of trying to foce it and just go through the motions quite litteraly. It might not be perfect at this point, but it is something.
I am hoping then if and when I do get into a class everything does feel familar to me, and I am like oh yeah I know how to do this, and I do not get thrown for a complete loop where I am like what is happening? Becasue you never know with things like this, but when you do acutally go into a more hands on apporach as in a class, it is not always the same as just trying to learn it out of a book. So I am hoping I wll be well prepared for the class and feel like I already have some idea and knowlege going in. 10:21 AM - 1/13/2007 - post comment
