Moonbeams and Sunlight
For a moment
I saw the past come alive
it fluttered just before
my eyes
And yet it do not
bring the ache of pain
but instead spared
my mind
From winding down
those dark halls
and finding fault,
fear, and doubt for
things to come
But then something
happened and I had
to pause
Only to come to realize
here I no longer belonged
those old voices were dead
and my life had taken
a new curve
So there was nothing
left in that place
behind I remember
how it use to haunt
me
But now I see
though it will never
truly be gone from
me at least I can
feel free.
