Butterfly Wings
I traced the path
of a single tear that
found its way down my
cheek, for a pain kept
locked away deep inside.
Now and then the crimson
light opens its eye and
the air grows heave when
I try to breath.
I touched once a glimmer
of happiness when all seemed
to be well, but then it faded
and the world came colliding down
upon me.
If only you were here
to hold me up, I suffer
without you presence
by my side more than you
know, I pay the price to
protect you.
I live for your next
kind word and reassurance
it was never your choice
that we should ourselves
this way.
I mourn that you are
not beside me, and
I walk though the loneliness
until I can cross purified
once again, for sacred
moments that like butterfly
wings, fleeting and fragile.
