Inconsitincies in Christainty

When I did my story on Christain doctors refusing to treat certain people, Dutchboy borught up an intresting point, which was thus

I recently looked into tattoos and piercings in the Bible, because someone said that Christians are not allowed to have them, and I don't take a Christian's word for anything, but all I could find is that you're not allowed to take new ones during a period of mourning. I still know where to find this on tattoos: Leviticus 19:28.

So I decided to do some looking to this myself, not because I do not trust Dutchboy, but just to have first hand knowledge, and what I found was really quite intresting, the passage in the bible that refers to tattoos and perichings reads as thus: and this is straight out of the bible word for word.

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD

Leviticus 19:28

So it is intreseting how Christians like to conveientely lead out that little FOR THE DEAD part of it, so nowhere does it say, as far as I know in the bibble that you can never, ever, have a tattoo or a pericing, but it says you are not suppose to make in any while in morning and grief

So I di not want to hear any more Christains going around talking about how it is against god, and a sin and so fourth to have tatoos or pericings, because unless you swing by the tattoo parlour on your way home from a funeral, there is nothing wrong with it and you can mark yourself up as much as you want.

So quit trying to edit out of the bible things that do not convientely fit into what you belive.

G'day Silverwind.

Wow! How interesting, I didn't even know that some Christians were saying it was against their faith to have a tattoo or piercing, I have never seen or heard anyone over here say that. It would be kind of odd if they did because we have some clergy that work on the streets with the homeless and displaced kids and they are sporting lots of tattoos but I haven't seen any with body piercing.
But lots of people in both categories turn up to church services and I've never heard anyone say that they were not welcome or Christian enough and if they did, I would have to say the boot was on the other foot and they were calling the kettle black in other words a hypocrite. Bible

What may also be a problem here, is the fact that in the Anglo-Saxon world, you still have to deal with some very complicated Bible translations, while in Dutch we now have a commonly accepted Bible translation used in most churches, that after being painstakingly translated, was being written in understandable Dutch by some leading authors of Dutch and Flemish literature.

Another interesting Bible detail. Ever heard of the Holy Trinity (The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost)? The only modern-day Bible version anywhere in the world that in any way recognizes it is the King James Version.
