Retribution (Part 2)Sashas privacy was intruded upon by the shrill sound of the telephone ring which now seemed to fill the room. This better be good she thought to herself as she pushed up upon her elbows and turned on her side toward the table beside the bed where the phone was located. She saw Nicolis name and number scrawled across her caller id. What was he calling for? He better be on his way over she would think as she reached over to take the receiver off of the cradle. "What do you want? Are you coming?" Her voice was sharp and hash as she was not in the mood to play any games with Nicoli just now. Luca would ease himself back down into his chair as he listened to the voice on the other end. A voice which held certain command and a touch of desperation. It did not seem to him the voice of a woman in trouble suffering from any physical malady or likewise, but it seemed to be that of one whom was up to something which had taken an unfortunate turn. He mused upon this as he came to speak, as usual in spite of his words, his voice betrayed no hint of genuine anger but only understanding. "Darling that is no way to answer the phone." Sashas blood ran cold, that voice was unmistakable. Luca on Nicolis phone, but how? She had just contracted Nicoli less than 5 minutes ago, and there was no doubt in her mind that Nicoli had been the one that answered then. Before she had time to gather her thoughts and come up with something as she had been left speechless upon the phone, Lucas voices would caress her ears once more with all the comfort of the tongue of a serpent testing its meal. "I know what you are thinking my dear, you see I was just having a nice little chit chat with my brother when something came up and he had rushed out in quite the hurry, and it seems in the process he has misplaced something. I could not help but to be concerned, I am sure you understand, no?" Sasha found it difficult to believe that was the true nature of how things happened, for she did not think even Nicoli would have been so reckless to have left the phone behind, and even so, if Luca just so happened to stumble across it after his brothers depature why would he have redialed the last number to be called? But she would say none of this, yet she knew she had to say something. "Oh"¦.I"¦sorry"¦I am just rattled. I suppose you caught me a bit off guard. Your brother he has not shown up yet, but I will tell him he left his phone when I see him." Lucas fingers drummed against the desk and he could not resist an amused smile. Clever wench he thought to himself, well played, but still not quite convincing enough. "Yes of course, is everything alright? You do sound a bit flustered, and the way in which my bother left"¦.is there some emergency? I would quite naturally be obliged to assist in anyway possible." He was fishing Sasha could not help but to think to herself, but for what? He was toying with her, did he truly suspect? She would have to take care and step carefully. "Thank you, truly, but Nicoli should be here soon"¦.and well I suppose when I called I had overeacted a touch, I did not mean to alarm him so, and having had some time to think it over, I suppose it is not near as bad really." "Understandable" was all Luca would say before Sasha heard the click of the phone as he hung up and snapped the phone closed, though before he had done so, he had taken care to write down Sashas name and the number on a piece of paper. Surely this must be the very woman in which Maud had expressed concern for her brothers attachment. He would have to look into just who she was. The phone for now was carefully placed upon his desk. Sasha had no sooner set the phone back into the cradle when 2:48 PM - 4/22/2007 - post comment
