Happy Non-Mothers Day

You know what, I could be clique like everyone else, and be nice (shudder) and wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day, but then when have I ever taken that road? So why start now? No, instead I say Happy Non-Mother's Day. Yes you heard me.

So what is Happy Non-Mother's Day you ask?

It is the celebration off all of us women out thier who don't want a damned thing to do with having any kids. That is right, it is time for us to fully embrace and rejoice in our choosen infertility. Don't you just hate, being treated as if having kids is just the natural order, and that is what it is expected of you. To get married and reproduce, and how if you do happen to find someone you want to spend your life with it is the automatic assumption that you will soon become preganent? And don't you hate having family espcially parents put the gult trip on you, with thier whole, but I want to be grandparents? And worse of all is the smugness of mothers. You know when you tell them you don't want to have kids, they have that partonizing smile in which they assume you are just going through some phase and you will change your mind once you get older or get married, and they do not accept the fact that some people just don't want to be mothers.

It is time for all your non-mother's out there to stop feeling ashamed, or embrassed about your choice, but it is stim to stand up tall and proud and say "Yes, I don't want kids" Do not let them trick you into thinking you are besing selfish, because you don't want to bring another life into this world, becasue you do have other plans. So what if you choose your carreer, goals, or lifestyle over parenting?

Besides we non-mothers are the ones who are being socially concious and envriomentaly friendly. There world is already too damn overpopulated anyway, we are doing the Earth a favor but saying, look we are not going to ad anymore people to the already bulging millions. And so really it is the Mothers who are being selfish, they are only thinking about what they want in the here and now, they are saying, I don't care about the state of the Earth, I want what I want, and if the world ends up blowing up later becasue of it, well I probaly won't still be alive when it happens anyway, so it is not my problem.

So I saw it is time for all you non-mothers out there to stand tall and proud, to be treated equally and fairly. Because we are not inferrior, we are not lesser people, just becasue we choose not to breed. Embrace your choice and don't let anyone beat you down or guilt trip you about it. Don't pretend like "you are thinking" about having childern, or that "maybe someday" just to feel like you fit in, not when you damned well know, no child is going to be comming out of your cannal.

Aha, people just want you to have kids so you can be miserable too, or they can send their little darlings over to your house to play with your kids so they can have some peace and quiet. It's not all fun and games. I would probably be afraid to have kids now because the incidence of autism is skyrocketing. I don't know how I would handle a child that screamed all the time. You catch horrible viruses from your kids. If they don't make straight A's you worry if they'll get into a decent college. Now all we need is Mother's Day for moms who aren't exactly the Hallmark mom type. Yesterday my kids spent the night at their friends' house. I missed them. See, when my husband puts them to bed I can have some wine and watch my e-vet show.

Autism

The most widely accepted explanation for the rise in autistic children, is the fact that we have more and more IT and advanced technology corporations, that thrive on employees with superior intelligence, who are often autistic. Where they come together, they are more likely to have children together and a good percentage of these children are in turn autistic. You'll see a much larger percentage of autistic children around big cities (esp. the Bay Area, but certainly Chicago too), than in the countryside. If you want to avoid having autistic children, just don't have children with a partner working in those professions. It's not a guarantee, but it's the best you can do.

As for not having children, the pressure against it must be great in the US, but if you don't want kids, I'm not blaming you. It's your life. Happy Non-Mothers Day.
