What comes next?Well I just heard that out here, and I do not know if they are doing it anywhere else, they want to regulate what school vending machines can and cannot serve, becasue of the obcesisty problem, they want to make junk foods not allowed in vending machines or to be served in the school. No in lile middle school I am fine with it becasue the childern are younger, but perosnally I think in highschool it is a bit ridiculous. By the time you are are in highschool I think you are old enough to know what food is good for you and what food is bad for you and to use some moderation in what you eat. And that obcesisty is a personaly choice once you reach a certain age where you are able to make your own decisisons.
I think this is just ridiculous and going too far to start trying to mandate what can and cannot be served in a vending machine, I mean come on. I had junk food when I was kid in highschool. I think it is quite silly trying to now make junk food demonized and blamed for peoples choosing to make bad choices. And I think that it does take away onces personal chooice.
I do not think it is the job of the school to monater what kids are choosing to eat beyond what is in thier cafateerias but other then that if a kid wants to by a pepsi and twix then they ought to be allowed to. A person should have the freedom to make thier own good or bad disiscions without beign dictated to.
Not to mention the fact that it is just another way of blaming the food itself and thus removing any personal responseablity. I mean how is a person going to learn how to make thier own choices if they are told more or less that it really is not your fault, but the food itself is to blame.
What is going to come next, they are going to start to sense what people bring to school with them form home?
It is all going to hell in a handbasket if you ask me.
I mean I would be fine if they wanted to offer healthy altenatives and make good things aivlable, but particuarly on a highschool campus I do not think they should forbid the sales particuarly in vending manchines of junk food 5:16 PM - 7/25/2007 - post comment
