On Race

Carlos Mancia (sorry if I spelled that wrong) just did this really great bit that was just so real and right on. For those who do not know Carlos ( I will leave the last name out hehe) Has his own show on Comedy Central called Mind of Manciea, he is a comedian who does really real, comedy and usually based on racail issues, in which everyone is fair game. So he was talking about how people get on him sometimes when he ueses certain sterytypical accents while he is talking about certain groups of people, and so he did this thing where he just went out on the street, and just wnet up to varrious differnet random people and asked them to do impressions of different types of poeple. Like he would go up to somemeone and say "Do someone from Africa, or do a Jeweish Person, or a Black Woman and so on, and of course they would all have thier own little impressions that they would do that they releate to those different types of people. And then at the end he said "You see everyone does it, it does not make you a racesist it only makes you normal. Unless you think your race is somehow suerpieror to somoene elses, then you are not a racesist"

And that is it right there, people need to stop getting all worked up everytime someone makes a stupid little comment or a bad joke, or attempts to be funny or whatever, becasue that is just being human and maybe if you are on camer or mike you should take in consideration what you say, but you should not have to. And every person who makes an off color remark is not a racesist. The only people who are raceists, are racesist. And what they are doing is a lot wrose then getting caught saying something someone might constrew as offesnvie.

I agree

On the whole, I think a lot of Americans are much too sensitive about these issues. Remember an entry I did on a commercial with a drunk guide dog. Three comments I received were about the fact that someone would use a blind man for such purposes. The problem I, and most Dutch people with me, had with it was the fact that there was no anti-drinking content on the entire Heineken site. That's a huge difference, eh? Oh well, the commercial only ran for three weeks. Heineken must have understood that this was going nowhere.

I agree with you, America is way too oversensitive about race, and in many cases it is also very hypicritical, overall I think America is too uptight and needs to learn to laugh at itself.

Yes I do remeber that, and I do remember you mentionning the lack of anti-drininkg mattieral while everyone else was just mad about the useage of the blind.
