The Room Factor

Posted in Thoughts

I am probaly the last person in the word who has any right to cirtize parents or be giving parental advice considering I have no kids and never want to have kids, and virutally know nothing about them and like to keep it that way, but hell, when has that ever stopped me before right?

So here is folks, the one thing that has never made sense to me, was the obcession parents have with always wanting to make thier kids clean thier rooms. Even when I was a kid I would try to debate that point with my parents and make them see what an illogical request it really was, becasue it was one thing that never made any sense to me and still does.

I fail to see what acutaly vaule the kid is getting from behing told they have to clean thier room or keep thier room clean, and to me it seems that is one thing in which it is not so much about hte kid or teaching the kid anything but purely about the parents selfishness of how they think things should be or how they want things for purely thier own perosanl sense of aesthcis and what is or is not right.

But as far as I am concenred the bedroom is the one thing a kid should have that is thier space, and in such, they should be allowed a certain freedom of expression within that space, and thus, I think a child ought to be allowed to keep thier room in whatever sate they choose to keep it in, and the parents should not impose thier own will where that is concnered.

I mean really you know the only reason you think they ought to clean thier room is becasue you personaly do not like looking at it when it is a mess, but what harm is acutally being done by letting a kid keep their room a mess if they so choose?

I really do not think there are any kids walking around that grew up to be heroine addticks meerely becasue they were allowed to have a messy room and never forced to clean it up.
