The Secret
Within her ear a secret was whispered
and within her breast she turned the key
that forever more it would be locked away
temptation seemed to linger around every corner
inside her it did not wish to stay
so upon her mind it chewed and gnawed.
Her lips did part while the pain still gnawed
to one who was deaf she leaned to whisper
her words became frozen and inside her it would stay
in the pit of her stomach she felt the turn of a key
and flee she would turning each corner
how desperate she fought to send her torment away
It only echoed in her mind and never she would get away
against her soul ever it tore and gnawed
every where she turned she saw it around the corner
and again and again in her mind she heard it whispered
her nails racked upon her flesh to get the key
nothing she did could make her heart stay.
Upon her knees she did plead but still the secret would stay
at her hair she tore and cursed and yelled it to go away
wretch she would to bring forth the key
and all the while upon her conscious it gnawed
it must be she who was the one who next whispered
but within her mind it rattled around every corner.
Every way she turned she was brought to the same corner
she wished she could find the one place she could stay
for in her mind the secret still whispered
and however she tried she could not cast it away
so forever at her rib cage it greedily gnawed
when at last bathed in blood there came the key.
Within her hand she held the key
and at last time stood still upon the corner
so soon it would be another that it gnawed
inside her it could no longer stay
at long last she could send it away
so to another she bent and whispered.
From her passed the key in a new home it would stay
she turned around the corner and ran quickly away
still the secret gnawed for within another it whispered.
