I just heard this story on the radio that AT&T has this website now that lets parents control the cell phones of thier teenagers, like via the website, they can control how many minitues the kids use, or how much they spend on ringtones, or if they don't want there kid making or reciviving calls past a certian hour they can shut the phone down, and if they don't want thier kids text messaging at school, they can block that feature during the time they are in class and so forth.
What happend to parents parenting the old fasioned way? Now they all expect new technology to do thier job for them, the samething with the blocking system on TVs instead of supervising what your kids watch on TV now you can just black certain channels or shows, so you can just sit your kid in front of the TV without having to do anything.
If you don't want your kid to exceede a certain amount of minitues or to rack up 1000 ringtones, then you give them the maxium they are alloud to have and if they exeecde that, take the phone away untill they prove they can be resonseablie and resepct the rules.
If you don't want your kid on the phone at 10 at night, you make sure thier phone is off and stays off, and if you find out they are talking past the time you allowed, you tell them to turn off the phone, and you take it for the night, and tell them if they do it again they will loose the phone for good.
If you don't want your kids text messaging at school, then don't let them have the phone at school, and if for some reason you feel they need a phone at school, tell them it is only for emergency, and if you find out they were using it for anything else, then don't let them take it to school anymore, isntead give them some change to use a pay phone if they really have to make a call untill they earn the privialgage back.
