I do not know how many of you are famillar with the song Mack the Knife, it is a bit of an oldie, This is just a little bit of intresting trivia I had come acorss. The song Mack the Knife, was originally written for and used in a song for an Opera that was preformed by thives, highwaymen and prostintues, in fact many of the names referenced in the song were the name of prostitues that preformed in the opera.
And just for kicks here are the lyrics:
Oh the shark has pretty teeth dear And he shows them pearly white Just a jack-knife has Mac-heath dear And he keeps it out of sight
When the shark bites with his teeth dear Scarlet billows start to spread Fancy gloves though wears Mac-heath dear So there's not a trace of red On the sidewalk Sunday morning Lies a body oozing life Someone's sneaking 'round the corner Is the someone Mack the Knife From a tugboat by the river A cement bag's dropping down The cement's just for the weight dear Bet you Mackies's back in town Louis Miller disappeared dear After drawing out his cash And Mac-heath spends like a sailo Did our boy do something rash Sukey Tawdry, Jenny Diver Polly Peachum Lucy Brown O the line forms on the right dear Now that Mackie's back in town

It's my favorite
I actually have two versions on my playlist. I like another version better however. That one starts with:
"Oh the shark has teeth like razors
All can read its open face
And Macheath has just a knife, but
Not in such an obvious place"
While of the version you put up the first verse is better, the other version beats it in the rest of the song." It's also much closer to the original German version by Bertolt Brecht.
Another great song from the Threepenny Opera is Pirate Jenny.
