Dog the Bounty Hunter

I do not know how many of you are famillar with Dog the Bounty Hunter, or the new controversy that is going on now, but to sum it up for those whom have not heard of it. There is this reality TV show following this family of bonty hunters and like the main boss is called Dog, and his son has this girlfriend who happens to be black, and Dog was talking on the phone about his son's girlfrind, and this was off air, not part of the show, but someone else happend to overhear. In which he used the N-word several times in talknig about his son's grilfriend and now he is in trouble for it.

Now, I have never really watched the show, and I am not a fan, and on a personal level I could really care less what happens to him, so this is my non-biassed opinon of it all, and simillar incidencts.

I do not think that a person should ever get in trouble for something they say, I do not care what they say, who they say it too, or why they say it. When it comes down to it, I think a person ought to be able to say whatever the hell they want to say, for good or bad.

This does not mean there should not be regulations for TV and Radio, if a person says something on air, that they should not, then they are violating a contract and should be repreimanded for that, but too many times there have been cases like this, where a person says something that they should not say, off air, but they are overheared by someone else and they get in trouble for it.

Repremanding somoene for the words they use, is not going to change thier thoughts and feelings, it is only going to force them to give a fake apology to the public.

I think that a person has the right to be a racisit, if they are so inclined, not saying I am defending it, or that I agree with it, or that I suppport it, but a person is entilted  to have those thoughts and feelings.

What a person does not have the right to do is to ACT upon those thoughts and feelings, but taking action, and just giving a verbal rant are two different things.

A person does NOT have the right to deny someone a job, beneifits, or raise becasue of discirmination and prejudice.

A person does NOT have the right to treat a person any differently becasue of discimination and prejudice.

A person does NOT have the right to prohiibit a person from buying or renting a house becasue of discrimination and prejudice

and the list goes on.

But a person does have the right to think what they want to think

feel what they want to feel

and say what they to say

It a public figure is stupid enough to say something they know they probaly should not say, when there is not a mike or camera in front of them, but they are overheard and it gets out there, then let the public decide.

If the public thinks the offense is bad enough they will stop watching or listining and when the ratings drop the person will be gong anyway

But if the public things eh, that was stupid, but not that bad, then the show will cotninue and life will go on, and nothing horrible will happen becasue of it.
