One Point for the Beavers

Posted in Thoughts

Sometimes people surprsie me in a good way. I know that is shocking enough, in fact have I ever before used the words good, and people together in the same secentence? *ponders a moment* I do not think so.

But there is this story out here, about this family of beavers that have settled in somewhere somewhat locally, and found a nice little creek in which to make thier dam. At first athorities though what athorities I am not sure, if it was either the county or fish and game or what, but someone whom was in the posistion to make said desision, said they were going to kill the beavers becasue they said there would be a flood because of the dam. Mind you there has yet to be a drop of rain or any sign of such happening, and last winter it was really low, but anyway.

Well the general public were outraged by this, and sent in a mass or letters to the paper demanding that the beavers be left alone so then the athorities said they would simply relocate the beavers, but beveras are diffciult to relocate becasue once they choose a home, that is it, they usually do not want to leave and will return back to the same spot again, so as of right now, they have decided to just leave the beavers where they are.

On a slightly related note

I always say, if you want to keep your feet dry don't live anywhere near a beaver. It's their nature to build dams, and so they must be allowed to. If you don't like hurricanes, don't live on the Gulf Coast, don't like tornados, don't move to Kansas, etc. I really can't see why people are sometimes so ill-prepared in the face of natural disasters that happen in their region.

Don't get your feet wet

I agree with you there. In fact it is really hard for me to feel sorry for the people that live in florida that one to be on TV everyday crying and complaining. It happens every year, so they should be use to it and buck up about it, and if they cannot take it move.

Though in this case the beave thing I guess is kind of new, they never use to be there, and just recently moved in.

But the genreal public do not seem to be the ones worried about them, just the buracacy, be surprsie there.

Oh, you two!

I think I'll go move near the airport and then complain about all the noise.

Airports

Ha, you've got them too dontcha? Hehe. One of the oldest commercial airports in the world is Schiphol Airport just outside Amsterdam, and many new houses have cropped up around it long after the airport was established, and these people just can't stop complaining. Why the hell did they move there anyway? For the silence?
