Labyrinth of the Mind

War Pigs

Posted in Music

I was in the car when this song came on the raido, and though I have the sense I heard the song before it sounded famillar I never really paid attention to it, untill tonight, for some reason, I was acutally listening to it intently, I am not sure what first caught my attention, but upon listening to it, something about the song really struck me, and it turned out to be a really good song. And what shocked me even more was when I realized who it was by. It was by Cake, I do not know if anyone is famillar with them, but I do like them and listen to them sometimes but this song  was so unlike what they usually do, it did not even sound like them. There songs are usually always light-heated and humurous. Fun little songs, sometimes wierd, but this song was really hard and dark.

So here are the lyrics.

War Pigs

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcers of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh lord, yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight
They leave that role to the poor
Yeah
Time will tell them they have power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating like people just like pawns in chess
Wait until that judgment day comes
yeah!
(Hey!)
(Hey!)
(Hey!)
(Hey!)

Now in darkness world stops turning
As you hear the bodies burning
No more war pigs have the power
And as god has struck the hour
They have judgment
god is calling
On their knees the war pigs crawling
Making mercies for their sins
Satan laughing spreads his wings
Oh lord, yeah!

Ok I just found out some new informaiton about this song that does explain things. Appernetly it was originally done by Black Sabbath which is why it sounded famillar to me, but I do not really like Black Sabbith, I do not care for thier sound which is why I probaly never paid attention to the song before, but when Cake did it, it sounded different and better to me, so that is what caught my attention. It is also less baffaling if they were just doing a remake, as this is so unlike anything they normally do.
