People of the FireI have this obcession and fascination with books about Native Americans, Prehistoric People, or Primitive tribal types. I think Island of the Blue Dolphins is what first caused this interest I have in such liteature, becasue it ranks among one of my faveoirte books, and I thought it was just a wonderful story. In a way I think a part of me is almost on a quest to find the next Island of the Blue Dolphins and though that has not happend yet, I am currently reading this Prehisortic America series by Micheal Gear and Kathleen O'Neak Gear. Though they are perhaps not the most remarkbaly memorable books I have ever read and not the best writing I have ever come acorss, they are still good books and I am enjoying the story and they have thier aeras of interest, and I do find them rather easy to read.
I am currentely on the second book People of the Fire and for me one of the most fascinating and intresting parts of this book, and well my faveorite part of the book thus far, is this little aside, I guess you would call it. It is part of the main story, but it is also set a part from it in a way.
In the first book People of the Wolf there was this powerful dreamer known as the Wolf Dreamer, and now in the second book the Wold Dreamer is a spirit watching and looking over the People. There is also a powerful talisman or charm, called the Wold Bundle, and at the end of almost every chapter, there are these little conversations between the Wolf Dreamer and the Wolf Bundle and thier observations of what is happening with the People and what it could mean for the future, and the Wolf Dreamer is alwyas very patient and belives in just watching and seeing where things lead, and trusting in fate so to speak or what he calls the spirals of the world. But the Wolf Bundle gets impaitint and wants to take a more active role in what is happening, and is always wanting to use his power to strike down and kill those that he sees and interfering but the Wolf Dreamer always holds him back.
The other thing that is kind of interesting about the books, is that at the begining there is this Introduction that takes place in the modern age where someone will be working on a site that had been where the tribes had once lived long long ago, and the modern people will find artifacts from those that had once lived there, and then it will go into the story of the ancient people. 11:18 AM - 1/17/2008 - post comment
