Lilith's Temptation of EveLilith’s Temptation of Eve Clad only in her naivety sat the one Falsely Named within her paradise troubled not by thoughts of the world When there came to her the one who should most disdain slithering in the shadows “I envy you not” the voice rang true “You are but a child wearing the skin of a woman” Startled from her reflections of no earthly things, she looked up and the moon seemed to menace “Who would speak thus?” came a meek plea from a voice accustomed to disuse. The very wind seemed to laugh, “I am the one who once was you but now I am free and you are less than me.” She trembled now aware of her uncovered flesh with no name for this feeling. “You are a slave not only to a man but to an ideal” Spoke the voice hidden in the darkness. Innocent the daughter of man made from man’s rib wept in her fear While the divine one crafted from earth felt no pity nor anger only amused relief. “You may beget mortal men and women to serve them, but I shall populate the earth with man’s fears and misconceptions.” She plucked the fruit of crimson sensually her fingers caressed skin like fresh blood, red against her toneless flesh for being ever driven into the shadows. “Do you know why such sweetness is told to be evil? The woman-child quaked in revulsion. “It is forbidden for it can only bring pain, suffering, and shame” She voiced her answer but feeling suddenly unsure of herself. The laughter rang clear as a bell, “It is marked by the sacred feminine” With a single slice the Earth Daughter split open the tabooed delight and there within the star was formed holding the fertile seed. “In this the Mother’s Wisdom is incased, where the power of woman does lie, which your Holy One would deny.” Trembling she reached out for the slice that at her feet befell and as her fingers grazed the skin a thrill shuddered down her spine, hypnotized. “Take the seed inside yourself and let it ever grow, that you may never be at man’s mercy while he is infused with the masculine light, you shall be his Diana glowing to the dark mysteries of concealed truth.” And the apparition a nightly vision shimmered out of sight but ever leaving a lasting impression in her predecessor. The Second Wife who could take unto herself what should have been freely given as a birth right But alas man is such a coward with a foolish God who would turn his back to his other half. 11:18 AM - 3/18/2008 - post comment
