I cannot help but to wonder at, how it seems that people become so easily offended over things which were never ment to be taken seriously in the first place, particuarly when it only takes a drop of common sense to realize it is not intended to be serious. And of course the sweet irony of it, is that ultimately by thier offense, they alone are the ones whom do come to acutally take the thing seriously. Which is kind of like being the butt of a joke without even knowing you are.
As I have mentioned before I run a blog, on wordpress which is dedicated to one of my interests, that being most things dark, gothic, and mytholigical. With a strong focus on Vampires, Werewolves, Histoical Witchcraft (that is how it was viewed through history, not Pagansim today)
And for my Vampire section of the blog, its primary focus is surrounding around old folklore beleifs, as well as both classical and modern media, and I usually always take a rather humurs tone in my topics
So I had to different articles posted, one which I clearly stated was drawn from folklore, and the other, I wrote as a bit of satire and quite clearly had a light-hearted humurus bend to it. And the previous responses other people gave to these topics were also clearly jestful in nature in which I responded in like. Just fun banter upon the topic.
So today, someone had mad coment upon both these topics, in which he seemed quite angery about the fact that my posts were so unrealistic
Ok first of all I am talking about vampires.
Now some of the things I do post do have a more serious bend to them, such as the dicussion of historical cases, but it only takes a little bit of thinking power to be able to tell the difference between what is ment to be serious and what is clearly done in for the sake of amusing and entertianing.
And how seriously can one really take such subjects? Even an aficionado like myself cannot tackle such subjects completely void of some sense of humur in the doing.
