The Leper
Blank walls surround me
whiteness presses down
closing in swiftly
one dreams of breathing
yet it escapes
and you are left gagging
dark eyes watching
that dead-hard stare
Twisting in the dirt
ground into the earth
never to speak
only cough up dust
soon the blood will come
clots boil and bubble
Where is there release
surely none cane be found
flaling on the hook
walled in cold brick
a fitting prison cell
Breaking nails
trying to crawl out
mind begins to deteriorate
slow at first than
gaining momentum
falling away into nothing
just rotting flesh
They call it the wasting
disease; curse of the gods
but it craves now for the soul
without apology
Stillness at least
please be the end
to beg to die
and thrive for life
it happens like this
Tears burn like acid
upon saintly knees
a filth-rid floor
where is salvation
I find it not
Just empty walls
dying like this
it comes to pass
a dream of paradise
just a glimmer
of delusion
The only reprieve
offered in the minds
final madness
take comfort you cannot see
what it has come down to.
