No Mercy For the Swine

Posted in Thoughts

As you know, I do not often talk about popular media stories or current events, but every once in a while I will be inspired to voice my thoughts on just such an issue. This has been a big story around here, I do not know how many others have heard of it, so I will give a recap of the story.

Basically there was this Mormon Commune in Texas and this alleged 16 year old girl, as now no one know who she is of where she is or anything about her. Called in to the authorities and reported this commune and acts of sexual abuse which were occurring, involved men within their 50's having sex with 15 year old girls, and so on and so forth.

So they went into the commune and rounded up all the kids and took them from their families and are holding them currently in a University dorm, while they investigate the claim, and they have been talking about it a lot on the radio, and here it seems as if a lot of people think that the government was over zealous in taking the kids away from their mothers, as many of the children were rather young, and there was not any reports I do not think of physical abuse against the children or any physical harm to the young children, the main issue was the underage sex with the adolescent girls.

So I have thought over this whole issue, and I am usually the last person in the world to defend anything the movement does, but I had come to the decision that, you know what, I think they should have had their children taken away from them.

And the way I view is like this.

If someone wants to go off somewhere and dress like it is the 1800's and isolate themselves from the rest of society and live off the land, and do the whole sort of Amish/Quaker lifestyle, than I say go for it, they have the right to do that and it is not any ones business. You know what, I do not even care if someone wants to be a polygamist, hey as long as everyone is a consenting adult and decide that is how they want to live their life style, have fun and good luck. Not any of my concern. I do not care if people want to live unconventionally, and raise their kids in an unconventional lifestyle. It is their right as far as I am concerned.

And here is where the but comes into play.

When you have your own little society in which young girls are more or less brain washed either through religious doctrine, or simply not having any other examples to go by, that as soon as their bodies are physically mature i.e. as soon as they have their menstrual cycle regardless of their age, they need to instantly start reproducing, and having these men old enough to be their fathers having sex with them, that is a problem.

And even if not everyone at the commune was participating in this particular activity, even if the mothers themselves were not doing any physical harm to their children, they were all there, and they all knew what was going on, and they decided they were cool with it. Every single adult on that commune is responsible in one form of another for what was happening, because if they were not actively doing it, they were enablers by not resisting, by just sitting back and letting it happen.

If they wanted to live in that kind of life, a group of them could have said, hey you know what, I think society is vile, evil and corrupt, and I do not want to have anything do with it. I want to find god by doing my own farming, submitting to my husband, and being wife number 6 but having sex with underage girls is not cool, so why don't we just leave this group and go do are own thing somewhere else.

But they did not, because they do not see anything morally wrong with that sort of behavior. So I do not care if according to the evidence, 6, 7,8 year old girls, or boy children are not in anyway shape or form being abused and are not in any direct harm or danger, and I do not care if the mothers of the children are not actively doing harm to their children. They all supported what was happening and they were willing to expose their children to it, so yes, all of them, whether they were an active participant in what was happening or not, deserve to loose their children.
