The Scarlet Satin
Through the gauze
a touch of satin
upon my skin
a kiss of crimson
I cannot escape
My vision an amber haze
while my breath is stifled
falling away; the muslin
unwraps slowly, revealing
a corpse within
The smell, smokey
while I inhale
a wisp of the funeral
shroud, fluttering effervesces
My fingers grasp
to unravel the strands
but each cord a tie
to eternity
Close my eyes
and descend
while the veil
embraces me.
