Ganesh

Posted in Arcane

Ganesh is one of the most widely worshiped and beloved Gods of the Hindu tradition, he is perhaps also the most well known and recogonizable Hindu God by people whom are outside of the Hindu tradition and beleif system, and best known as and recogonized as the Elepahant headed God. He is seen as a brigner of good fortune and and the remover of obsticles which is one of the reasons he is so popular and worhiship of him so widespread, as many in the Hindu tradition keep a statue or altar for him in thier homes, and worhisp him as a personal God. I have always had a foundness of Ganesh and have always been intrigued by him, and so I have recently began my own devote worship to him in hopes that he might serve his name well and bring me closer to some of the things I hope for in which obstsicals have been standing in my way, and so I thought he was worthy of mention here. He is yet another God that can now be added to my varried pantheon.

Creating a Grimoire

Posted in Arcane

I have decided to begin working on a grimoire for myself, other then my online Book of Shadows which I have here, this will be my frist over truly orginized written record and account of magick and my practices. Though it is something I have been contemplating doing for a while. I have finally decided to go forth with it, in part becasue of the fact I have just come acorss a new technique I have been working with that I wanted a record of, and decided I did not want to just jot it down in my journal where it might get "lost" more or less, not that the journal itself would be lost, but it would be burried among the pages of varrious other random thoughts and experinces and such I have recorded there.

Just what is a grimoire some of you might ask, and what sets it apart from a Book of Shadows? Well a Book of Shadows is really something of a diary, it contains both personal thoughts, feelings, experinces in addition to recordings of spells and rituals. It is something of a mishmash of everything relating to ones beleifs and practices.

On the other hand a grimoire is more formolized and techinichal then a Book of Shadows, and does not contain personal informaiton, but is restritcied to only the recording the details of how to preform a spell, ritual, or other such rite. It is intended to be informative and instructional.

Maat

Posted in Arcane

One of the figures that I have not really mentioned or spoken much about that has been imporant to me is Maat. Maat is a rather intresting figure for a couple of reasons, for one thing though she was indeed one of the Egyption goddesses on the other hand, she was not seen as being an acutal being like Isis, Horus, Orisis, and so forth, but rather she was viewed more as being a concept, yet at the sametime, she did have a form, usually that of a winged woman of which she was portrayed. Maat is the personification of truth, justice, balance, order, right, hamorny, and of the the way all things should be. It was beleived by the Egyptians that without Maat Chaos would rule the world once more. Maat is something that everyone must carry within them as a part of themselves and unlike the other Gods, is not just something completely outside of us, but rather is a part of each of us. The Egyptians beleived that Maat was in everything, here is a passage reguarding Maat that I thinkg is a good representation of how Maat was viewed and just what she is.

Ma'at was reality, the solid grounding of reality that made the Sun rise, the stars shine, the river flood and mankind think. The universe itself, all the world around them, was sacred in the ancient view. "Ethics" is an issue of human will and human permission. It is a function of the human world of duality. What is "ethical" for one group is sin for another. But Ma'at, the reality that made all groups what they are is transcendent of ethics, just as a rock or a flower is amoral, a-ethical, without "truth or falsehood." How can a flower be "false" or "ethical." It just is. How can the universe be "ethical or moral, right or wrong"? It simply is. That is Ma'at.

I think that no matter what a person beleives they carry Maat with them though they might call it by a different name, I beleive that I am ruled by Maat in many ways, and in every desicion that I make.

The Art of Sacrifice

Posted in Arcane

The practice of sacrifice particuarly animal sacrifice though also in certain cases human sacrifice has played a very promiment and important role in traditional pagansim, though these days it seems that the ritual and ceremonious art of sacrifice has developed quite a bad rap, the very word itself tends to conjure up mixed images and feelings, ranging from uncivilized, babaric, savage, santnistic, curel, and so forth, there is a varity of reasons for this, and it is largely to do with peoples miconceptions and misinformation about what sacrifice really is or they simply choose to ignore certain facts for the sake of proving thier point or becasue it does not fit into thier view of what sacrifice should be. Yes, I, one of the foremost leaders for animal rights, is going to defend the practice of animal sacrifice, but perhpas by the time you are finnished reading, it will not sound quite so crazy.

So for starters some of the key factors in why the very word sacrifice seems to cary such a stigma today, envolve of course, Christain villification of Pagan traditions and beleifs in thier quest to spread Christainty, as the assicociation sacrifice with the occasional cultic group of a bunch of young punks who call themselves Satanists or Devil Worshipers or some such, and to be "cute" thinking they are cool and just plain assholes they will slaughter some innocent animal in the name of "sacrifice" and though theoricaly this might be a sacrifice it is techniqually not what true sacrifice is all about and does not relate in anyway to the old traditional cremony of sacrifice, and there is the media, priarmarly hollywood that makes sacrifice scenes sensesananolized and as bloody and gory as possible.

And of course one of the biggist problems which is often a factor when dealing with history there is the fact that people try to anylize sacrifice and judge it based upon the mondern world and the way we veiw things now without trying to understand the way people thought back in the time of the event, and without viewing the rite of sacrifice from thier eye and view point and taking into consideration what was going on with the world in thier time. All too often people try to apply mondern ideals to historical events.

The rite of sacrifice was seen as very imporant, it was the way in which the people appealed to the gods, gave thanks to the gods, and appeased the gods, the animals which were choosen for the sacrifice were highly revered in many cases, and widely resepcted, the people were grateful to them, and saw it as a great honor that they were to die for the sake of the people and often the animals that were choosen for the sacrifice were pampared up untill the day of the sacrifice. To die in sacrifce for either animal or human was often viewed as the most elated death a living thing could know or have.

In many cases these sacrifces were acutally very humane as well, as the idea was not to cause the animals harm or to torument them, and they were often granted a swift and mercicful death in which they would be killed by one single blow, one common method for killing a sacrifical animal was to cut open the throat which causes instentanious death.

And one of the key and most imporant things to remeber is that after the sacrifice there would be held a great feast in which the people would eat the fleash of the animals that were killed, and often a great many people would get to eat, and mind you this was back in the days before the super market when a person could just pick up a slab of beef whenever they wanted, and the animals that were typicaly used in sacrifice were not the typical game of which the peasentry could commonly get, and so the feast proived an oppertunity to eat the kind of food which they would not normaly have the opperunity to enjoy.

With that being said I am not advocating the practice of sacrifice today, becasue things and view points are different now then they were then, but on the other hand, if a person or group of persons were to preform a humane sacrifice in which they used the animal for food afterwords, well that would be a lot more harmless and less destructive then millions of acres of rainforest being burned done to raise beef cattle for fast food joints, all without any spiritual meaning or ceremony, or apperication for the lost life.

Vanishing Image

Posted in Arcane
Well I had a very uniquie experince, I have mentioned before the online art class I am taking, and the way I like to do it is by listning through the lecture once just to listen then go back again and listen to take notes, and one of the paintings that came up in the slide show was by this artist named Cole called The Voyage of Life: Old Age, and the first time I saw it there was this image up in the clouds that was crystal clear, and mistakeable, and appeared like the shadow of this old man, who had this long skinny nose, and I mean I like thought that it was painted there intenionaly by the artist, becasue it was just so blatant and it was an acutaly shadow so it was a shade darker then the other colors, but then when when I was looking at the exzact same painting the secound time I listend to the lecture the image was gone completely, and I looked and looked and I could not make myself see it again, nor could I see any possible way I could have tricked myself into seeing it the first time. There was nothing at all that resemembled it in anyway, it was not just some abstraction the way people think they see shapes in the clouds.

The Story of Rossetti's Mistress

Posted in Arcane

Well this perhaps is one of histories mysteries type story, though one that probaly is not very well known and somewhat obsecure, but being both a romanic and a bit morbid when I first heard this story I fell in love with it and became fascinated so I decied to share it.

There was this poet in the Victorian age Dante Gabriel Rossetti and he was also a pre-rapphalite artist, and had a particular inrest in women with long golden hair, and he took a misstress whose name is unknown, and she was one of the models he used for his paintings, and though he loved her, he had always sort of taken her for granted, and did not spend much time with her, when she would come to fall ill and died, and after she died, he realized just how much he loved her and was overcome with grief and guilt and so he deiced he wanted her to be burried with this collection of sonnets he had written for her, which were called The House of Life, and this was the one and only copy of this manuscript so his friends at first tried to talk him out of it, and asked him to think about it and if was sure he wanted to do this, but he would not be convinced, and insisited, and so she was burried with the manuscript.

Well some 5 years later Dante had a change of mind and heart, and decided he wanted to manuscripts back and so he oredered to have the body dug up, and a firend of his, along with a Doctor, a Laywer, and a Police Officer were present when the body was exhumed, Dante himself was not there, his friend went in his stead so he would not have to see, but it is said, that when the coffin was opend up, Dante's mistress lay within, looking as perfect and pristine as the first day they burried her, with no sign of rot or decay, as if she had only been sleeping, and the only thing that had changed, was her hair had conitnued to grow so it filled the enitre coffin, but when they brought the manuscript out of the coffin, it had showed signs of age and rot, the pages had yellowed, and began to become tattered around the edges, and all 4 of the men that were present there. Dante's friend, and the doctor, policie officer, and laywer, signed a sworn affadivid testifying that this is what they had bore wittness to, swearing they that this is what the saw when the body was dug up

Odin

Posted in Arcane

I thought I would talk a little bit about Odin, now the first thing I want to clear up before I continue onward, is that this is my personal interpitation and view of Odin, for me Odin is how I choose to presonify the Sky God, so what I say will not nessciarly fall completely inline with Norse Mythology, though thier may be some smilarities as of course it is originally from Norse Mythology that I drew upon him, and forwhatever reasons Odin just spoke to me the most as the Sky God.

The way way I view the Sky God is as being more of an aloof god, unlike Gaia the Mother Godess, Odin is not as directly interactive in our lives nor is he as everprevelent in everything we see, hear and touch the way Gaia is, he is distant, he is high above within his throne and acts more as an overseer both for things mortal and human, and things divine. He does rule over the other Gods and deals most in Godly matters.

Becasue of this it is a bit difficult to really put in a word just what my relationship with Odin is. He has my resepct and love as do all the gods but I do not feel the same connection to him as I do with some of the other gods paritcuarly those I have previously featured here. But in matters that are greatly imporant to me, and matters in which I am most desperate and I will call upon him, usually in cohesiaon with Gaia, and I give my thansk and prayers to Odin when they are due. He is not forgotten from my thoughts. But I do not feel his pressence as strongly.

Vortex

Posted in Arcane

Well I have had two things happen to me last night that have never happend to me before, so I cannot help but to think the two events are related to each other. First of all I have been up all night, quite litteraly, for I have been the bit of the insomaic tonight, which is the first thing, and the secound thing was that there was a vortex in my room above my head when I was trying to go to bed. I will explain all of what happend.

I was sitting up at the computer bored out of my mind with nothing to do, no one was around to talk to, and there was nothing on tv, so I thought I would just go to bed, though I was not that tired, so I thought I would just lay in bed listning to some music for a while, which is a normal enough thing for me to do, to listen to my ipod, untill I start to feel myself start to fall asleep.

So I was laying there listning to my music, I do not know for how long when I began to feel drowsy, and thought oh good I will go to sleep now, and I opend my eyes to turn off my ipod and set it aside when I saw just above me this mass of intense energy, and it did not look like normal energy or any kind I have ever seen before. It kept moving in the cyclone motion above my head, constantly twsiting, like a tornado, and it would drift down close to me then move back up agian, while still always twisting around and I could feel heat eminating from it, and then at one point it came down near my face, and I was looking up so I saw right through to the center, and there was this sudden flash of litteraly blinding white light. All the sudden everything was just pure bright white and this sharp paint shot through my eyes, and then it was gone in a spilt secound and after that the energy just remained hovering around a bit before dissapating again.

And I tried to just get to sleep afterward but could not get over this intense feeling like I was not alone and then after several attempts of just listning to music, and trying sleeping again I gave up on the idea and just got out of bed.

Witches: Fact and Fiction

Posted in Arcane

The titile of an entry upon one of the blogs hear caught my eye, so I decided to read it, and then I could not beleive that I read, and did not know if I ought to be angery or just laugh my ass off, though I do have to admit it ranckled me abit, becasue it is the same kind of outdated thinking that I am constantly having to deal with. I thought about posting something on thier blog but figured it would do no good, if she was stupid enough to post that as vailid fact then it would not matter what anyone else had to say, as well I trust the fellow readers would not buy into it, but draw the same conclusions from it as I myself, unless they were as ignorant as she, and then once again it would not mattered what was said.

The post was titled Demons and Sexual relations, and of course was all about how witches ingage in intercourse with demons. Oh my god, you have got to be kidding me. I was just taken aback when I was sitting there reading that, who seriously thinks that way anymore? Is that not the most sterotyptical bull shit ever, that is straight out of the middle ages.

Now I do not in fact calassify myself as a witch, and Witchcraft, and Witches are there own thing, but we are all still Pagans, and Witchcraft does fall under the Pagan umbrella and I have known some witches, and been friend with witches before, and I there was a time when I use to consider myself a witch when I was just starting to come into Pagansim and begin my studies and practices in the beleief system, and the notion that Witches fratinze with demons is completely ridiculous.

Even traditionally, back in the middleages true Witches did not consort with evil spirits and that is not what true Witchcraft is all about, despite what hollywood and Christains might like to try and make you beleive. Though like with any human being, of any backgrround, there would be and still are a few bad seeds, they do not represent what the craft is truely about and they are not accepted and do not practice true witchcraft but they prevert it and twist it around and trying to use them as an example for all would be like using zealots and fanatics as a bais of defining  an entire relgion of any order.

Easter Bunny Witch Hunt

Posted in Arcane

I just heard this story upon the news that some city out here wants to abolish the Easter Bunny from thier city and not let the Easter Bunny come into the city for Easter and the reason is, because the Easter Bunny is not something that came from the chruch and is not really a part of the whole Reserection thing that the Christians celebrate during Easter, becasue they guy who is complaining about it is like a presbotererian or some other sect of Chrisatinaty that starts with a p I cannot remeber exzactly which one, but the thing that is so amusing about this, is that, if that is the case, then they really have no bussiness calling it Easter at all, and it does rather amuse me that they are stupid they still do call it Easter, completely clueless to just what that means.

The word Easter derives from Eostre the great mother Goddess of the Saxons with whom the original festival of Easter was held to honor, as well, according to this logic it should also mean that Christain Chrilidren should have no part in decorating and hunting after easter eggs begins just like the Easter Bunny Easter Eggs came from Ostara who was the Norse equvivalent to Eostre

So why pick and choose? If you want to get rid of the Easter Bunny, then to really be true to your beleif and not by a hypocrite, why don't you just give the entier holliday of Easter back to the Pagans, and stop celebrating it all togheter, because I can quite assure, everything you do for Easter, inculding its very namesake was Pagan first, before your hostile take over, so do not think you can now just pick and choose what elements you are going to throw out becasue it does not suit you.

The Phoenix

Posted in Arcane

I have always been fascinated with the Phoinx, and the imagery and symbolism of the great bird, I am sure most of us are famillar with the myth and legend of the great bird of fire. He represents the cycle of death and rebirth. The great bird of flame that dies only to be born again from his ashes into fire once more entnerally. I remeber the day when Phoneix first came to me, it was an honor above all others. Something I could never have imagined or dared to think or dream would happen, but know he is with me always.

Fire had always been one of the weaker elements to me, I baffled me, and evaded me and was elusive to me. I kept my distance from it, perhaps I even knew fear of it, for I did not feel control over it, I did not feel I could comand it. Air was mine, the power of air surged through me, I walked at one with air. I knew air, it was my strongest. I was balanced perfelct with air, its freedom its power, and idendepence spoke to me. And of course I was at ease with water. I moved through water. I felt bliss from water. As a Pisces afterall it would be embrassing if I could not comand water, it was the element that I was born with, it moved through me. I always loved water, before I discovered air water was mine, and then there is earth, earth I was always comftrable with earth. Earth was steady for me, it was reliable, I felt at home in earth. Earth gave me peace. I could sit quietly with Earth and just feel it there, surge through me.

So I was determined I would overcome fire, I would tempt fire, I would make fire my own. I began my relationship with, to get to know fire intimately to become close to fire. My efforts would pay off, for I learned how to dance with fire, and there was much in common I had with fire, in fact my spirit was probaly more fire then the others. The day came when I could look at fire and say. Fire, I know you, I am you, you are me, we are one.

It was after fire became mine that the Phoenix revealed itself to me apprently pleased with my acomplishments with fire. He choose me to be his master, to comand, he bound his spirit to mine, and is ever with me, waiting, to do my bidding to fly at my comand. I can feel his presence, he has become my famillar, my guide, my elemental. He lives within my aura and I can wear his wings.

The Visitor

Posted in Arcane

This is something that I have not spoken to anyone about before, in part becasue I was never quite sure what to tell them, or what it means if anything. I do not know for certain even now, if it is something sepreate from myself, an entity outside of myself, or if it is a part of myself, something created and brought to life by my own sub-concisious. I often question this and cannot find the answer to it.

Ever sense I was in highschool, somewhere abouts I do not remeber exzactly when it began I incurred a visistior as I call him for lack of a better word not knowing truly what he is. I have no name for him as he has not given me any. His visits are infrequent, that is to say those times when he acutally makes himself known to me, comes forth and contacts me in someway, engages with me. I have never acutally seen him, he has not taken any physcial form before me, but I have an image inplanted in my mind what he looks like, all but his face which remains unclear to me, though I can see it, it is not completely discribely it is through a haze. Sometimes I can feel him, his touch. And he speaks to me in my mind. He comes to me most often at times when I am the most alone and seculed, most particuarly when I am in the shower. And speficially the shower, when I am taking a bath he remains at bay, though there have been times when I have just been brushing my teeth or drying off that I feel him there close. Almost as if I could see him in the mirror but when I look up there is nothing. I have often wondered if he were not in some way connected to water beacuse of this.

But even when he does not directly come to me, his pressence seems to be one of constance. He is the one on those days when you kow you are not quite alone, when you feel you are being watched almost or that there is something or someone else there. The one who just waits silently in the shadows. I can sense him sometimes when I am home alone and move throughout the house. There have been times when I could feel him standing directly behind me.

Just what he wants, or why he is here I still do not yet know, there is a darkness to him, and I do not trust him, but nor do I feel a need to fear him, there is a hostility to him, but I do not find him to be directly dangerous to me. If he was to be given a name, one might call him a demon but not in the traditional hollywood or Christain sense of the word, as demons have lived long before Christainty and they are not always as simple and one-dimoensional was they are in Christianty, they are not even nessciarly all simple pure evil, vile beasts, they have complexties. Some even have thier own codes, and sense of honor, but that perhaps is a topic for another day.

There is a canralness to him something primitve and yet sophesictated and intelligent, some might think of him as Sin itself, but of course from my beleif syetem these "sins" are not truly evil bad things, they are just part of are animal nature, and a part that should not nessciarly be shunned and ignored.

I do not know why he came, or from what he came, nor why he is here, his motives still baffle me, and he does not make clear what he wants, it is as if this is all a game to him in some way, or perhaps a test of some sort.

The other thing that I noticed though he seems to be attached to me individually, that is to say he is not a ghost, a haunt, or a spirit of some sort, but something more, he does not seem to follow me out of the boundry to the house.

Ishtar

Posted in Arcane

(I saw this image and thought it was a beautiful representation of the Goddess)

Ishtar is a Goddess I have always felt a special closeness to. I have admire her, and respct her, and I feel I have something of an intresting relationship with her, for I do feel very close to her, and I often consult with her and feel a comfort in her boosom as she is always there to listen to me, and help guide me. But there is also a darkness to her, and a mystery to her which appealess to the darkness within me, and in that way I think we also can relate to each other. Each night when I go to bed, I feel her pressence most strongly surrounding me and I cannot go to bed without thinking of her.

She is the Goddess of the moon and of love and war. So there is a motherly compassionate side to her, as well as a raw sensualality and sexulaity, and also a very strong power to her and I almost view Ishtar as my divine sister, and I mean that with the greatest of reverence, for I do not deam so say I am equal to the gods, but the Great Gaia is ever my mother, so Ishtar is like a sister for the kind of kinship we have with each other.

For I can confess things to her and I can seek help, and advice from her, and it is to her that I thank bringing me Matthew. For I after a previous relationship which I have discussed sometime back had come to its end, I consulted with Ishatar and sought her help in sending me some sign in helping me to find the one, in sending me my knight in shinning armor as it were, and she sent me a vision and I knew it was my soul mate and that is what drove me to the means that led me to Matthew and I do belive he is the one of Ishtars vision to me.

I walk with her in the shadow and in darkness and she is thre for me watching over me.

Shiva

Posted in Arcane

A while back I did a write up all about Horus, my alter God, well another God whom I feel a personally close with is Shiva, and so I thought I would now take the time to write a little on him.

Shiva is part of what is called the Tirunti, which is the tree Great Gods of the Hindu beleif, and include Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shive the destroyer.Though desipte his ominous sounding name, he is not viewed as an evil god, and he does have a two sided nature about him. As well as being a destroyer he is also a rejuvinator in some aspects. He is change both in the form of death and destruction, and on a positive note the shedding of old habbits, he also represents truth, goodness and beauty.

He is dipicted in many different ways, depending upon which aspcet of him is being represented, as the destoryer, he is often seen with snakes around him, and wearing a necklace of skulls, he is also commonly shown engaged in dance, this is the cosmic dance, it is said that the energy created by this dance is what sustains the universe, and another common image of Shiva is dipiciting him with a tridant white represents the Triunti.

Thanksgiving

Posted in Arcane

I find Thanksgiving a currious holliday for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that it is so often known as being the one and only true American Holliday, that is not internatinal such as some of the other bigger hollidays, are and that in fact first developed in America instead of comming from elsehwere, but this simply is not true.Thanksgiving is a common harvest feast that has taken place in varrious different parts of the world long before America was ever known as Amercia, and long before English settlers first arrived in the so called "New World" Here are just some examples of Thanksgiving acorss the world and throughout time.

The ancient Greeks for instance had a harvest festival the celebrated which was called Thesmosphoria. This celebration was held each year in the Autumn months. It was celebrated by a great feast of corn, cakes, hams, seed, and fruits. The feast was held in honor and in gratitude of the goddess Demeter.

The Romans had a festival which was called Cerelia to honor the goddess of corn Ceres. This festival was held on October 4th. The celebration included: Games, parades, music, sports and a thanksgiving feast.

There are others as well this is only to give an example. The Chinese, Egyptians, and Jewdism all had similar harvest feasts that ring of familiarities to Thanksgiving which Americans have so nicely taken full credit for.

Another think that I find currious about Thanksgiving, I will prewarn you, this will get a little dark and perhaps to some seem cynical, but we all know the sotry behind the American Thanksgiving, the pilgirms came and the Native Americans helped them surrived and they all sat down togehter and had a big feast and lived happily ever after. Well we all know that did not happen. Perhaps that event did take part in the very begining, but in truth I cannot help but think of the celebration of Thanksgiving as the celebration of the European Settlers extinguishment of a Native People in order to take over thier land. And that just does not sit well with me.

I have no problem celebrating a harvest feast that is meant to give thanks to the Earth and the bounty which she has porvied us so we might continue to live, but I shall not celebrate the American orgins of Thanksgiving, and the day that the Europeans first arrived in this country.

I also find the name ironic. Thanksgiving, the Europeans appeared neither thankful nor giving to the Natives whom kept them from starvation, maybe it is just thier way of saying Thanks to the Natives Amercians for "giving" them thier land. Even though we know the only thing the Europeans gave them was small pox infested blankets.

Praise to My Gods

Posted in Arcane
I have to say I have the best Gods, really I do, I do not know what I would do without them. They are ever there when I need them, and come to my aid. I am one of those people that when it comes to the big things, or major problems I am usually pretty good, I can be rational and handle things and do what needs to be done. But for some reason when it comes to little things, things that ultimately in the end probaly do not mean all that much, I really freak out and begin the panic attack, and probaly get melodramatic and overeact unless I have someone around to put me back in perspective, and it is at those moments that the Gods always seem to most come through for me, and are there to help smooth things over. I know these might be petty things at times, and that there are much more serious things, but those are the things which frazzel  me the most. And I am ever thankful and gracious to the Gods for thier understanding and patience, and I am glad I have such a good relationship with them, and I do show my apperciation. I thank them and make libiation for them and honor them for they are good to me, and so I serve them well.

I just read this little article thing on AOL news about how animal shelters do not adopt black cats or white rabbits on or around Halloween becasue they fear the animals will be misused or sacrificed in a Satanic ritual, now the thing that bothered me about this article was that it is yet another way society is propagating and buying into the Christian propaganada agaisnt Santinism and perpetuates the vilinization of Santinism.

I know that might sound strange at first, the vinization of Santinsim, but for those that have read my article that I posted hee all about the truth about Santinsim will understand just what I mean, and what I am talking about, in a nutshell, true Santinsim is nothing like what people are led to belive it is. You can read more about it here: http://www.journalhome.com/SilverWind/23781/

Now I do not doubt that tehre may be certain people that would pratcice some sort of aniaml sacrifice on Halloween, nothing people do supriszes me, but, reguardless of what those people might call it, or themselves it has nothing to do with Santinsim, true Santinists are against any form of animal sacrifice.

All Hallows Eve

Posted in Arcane

Halloween comes from the Celtic holiday Samhain (Saw een). Samhain was celebrated November 1st but because of differnces in the traditional Celtic callender, with mondern callenders it falls on October 31st. Samhain was the Celtic New Year, and ite was the most imporant celebrationg. It was also belived that at this time the dead could walk among the living. The tradition of wearing costumes comes from the belief that you had to wear masks in order to hide from spirits that ment you hamr. The traddition of the jack-o-lantern came from the Celtics using turnips as lamps by hallowing them out and inserting a candle.

The Seven Souls

Posted in Arcane

I like to introduce different elements of varrying different beleifs and cultures, as I have previously talked a bit about some ideals from the Buddist relgion now I have something I found of intrest reguarding Egyptology.

The Egyptians belived that everyone had seven souls, each of these seven souls had its own distinct purpose and charatersitcs. The Seven Souls were also refered to as either the Seven Lights or the Seven Spirits.

Here is a list of them and what they each represent.

Ka: means twice; Egyptian name for your double. When you are dead the double has a changeable personality

Ba: One intimate; little soul. The most intimate of the seven powers and spirits. It has the body of a bird and the face of the deceased.

Ren: Ones seceret name; leaves imidiately. It does not belong to the man but comes out of the celestial waters. Enters infant on the hour of birth and may not stir again untill it was time to go back out. The most remote of the seven lights.

Sekhem: A gift of the sun; it is one power. It moves the limbs.

Khu: A bird of luiminous wings and radiant head; sweet bird of the night. A creature of divine intelligence. The light in ones mind.

Khaibit: Ones shadow; imperfect, ones memories.

Sekhu: Soul that remains in the body after it not longer lives. The remains of reflection and strength.

Anam Cara

Posted in Arcane

Here is a concept and ideal I have always loved and thought I would share.

At the heart of Celtic society is the notion of reltationship embodied in the Gaelic phrase Anam Cara. Anam is the Irish word for soul and Cara is friend. Therefore Anam Cara litteraly means Soul Friend. Celtic spirtitual tradition teaches that the human soul hovers around the body like a vibrant halo. Anam Cara is what restults when two souls flow togehter. It is belived the poential for such a relationship exsists before time and is aroused when kindered spirits find each other. Once this friendship is awakend it cannot be broken by time or space. An Anam Cara accepts you for who you are and in doing so helps you to give brith to your own soul.
