Viva La VidaI never really listend to Coldplay before, but on an itunes commerical I heard this song by them, or part of it, and it intrigued me so I looked it up, and when I was reading these lyrics, something about them, just really spoke to me. I just fell in love with the lyrcis for this song.
Viva La Vida
I used to rule the world 11:31 PM - 6/10/2008 - comments {0} - post commentName that tuneI was flipping through the channels a few days ago, when there was nothing to watch on TV and I was just looking for some background noise, when I came upon VH1 and I was just so stunned and shocked to see they were acutally playing a music video, as it has been a long time sense I have seen a music tv station, acutally playing music, and the song that was currently on was not that bad so I decdied to leave it on.
The song that came to play next was a rather odd little song I thought, and at first I did not know what to make of it, my first inclination was not to like it, and yet I somehow remained facinated and could not turn away and I think the song had begun to grow on me, and now for the life of me I cannot remember what the song was called or the name of the woman who sang it.
She was this Irish girl with red hair, and when she sang she had a bit of the Irish accent, and the song was a bit of a strange one, and in some parts sounded almost more like talking than signing. It was about this relationship in which now all they do is fight, and there is really nothing left between but for some reason they still try to hold on. For the life of me I cannot pull from my head any of the specific lyrics.
In the music video for it. She is in thier apartment with her boyfrined, showing them being estranged from each other, and she is signing about how all they do is fight, and it makes her smile when she is irritating him and she knows it is not right, and how they are trying to hold onto something that is already lost.
So if this sounds familair in anyway to anyone, please let me know, I was goign to go and try and look on VH1's website and see if I could find anything. 11:22 AM - 2/27/2008 - comments {2} - post commentWar PigsI was in the car when this song came on the raido, and though I have the sense I heard the song before it sounded famillar I never really paid attention to it, untill tonight, for some reason, I was acutally listening to it intently, I am not sure what first caught my attention, but upon listening to it, something about the song really struck me, and it turned out to be a really good song. And what shocked me even more was when I realized who it was by. It was by Cake, I do not know if anyone is famillar with them, but I do like them and listen to them sometimes but this song was so unlike what they usually do, it did not even sound like them. There songs are usually always light-heated and humurous. Fun little songs, sometimes wierd, but this song was really hard and dark.
So here are the lyrics.
War Pigs
Generals gathered in their masses Ok I just found out some new informaiton about this song that does explain things. Appernetly it was originally done by Black Sabbath which is why it sounded famillar to me, but I do not really like Black Sabbith, I do not care for thier sound which is why I probaly never paid attention to the song before, but when Cake did it, it sounded different and better to me, so that is what caught my attention. It is also less baffaling if they were just doing a remake, as this is so unlike anything they normally do. 6:44 PM - 11/25/2007 - comments {0} - post commentNight at the OperaI went to the Opera the other night, my first time going, and it was quite an intresting experince though I did enjoy it more then I thought I would. I was looking forward to going, and in general I do love live theater, but needless to say the acutal opera, really is not the way they often portray opera as being in movies or on TV, and indeed for anyone whom has caught an Opera on TV on some local or public access channel as they often play here, to see it in person is nothing like that. I tried watching the opera on TV and it is dreadful, but if you go in person it is a completely different experince.
First of all the Opera House, was beautiful. It was a tremendous building that was a labyrinth of stairs and halls, and each level looked just like the next, and it was a circular building So each different level went around within a circle, so there would be stairs that came down upon both the left and right side, but all ended up in the same place. We were sitting in the cheapest seats possible, in the rear balcony, which was the higest level they have, at the very back, but acutally the seats did have a good view of the stage. Though the seats themselves were a bit uncomftrable, they were very narrow and just packed poeple in, but luckily it was not sold out, so our row was nearly empty.
The preformace I went to see was The Magic Flute, by Mozart, and I have to say the music, was really amazing, Mozart is becoming one of my faveorit composors from what I heard from him so far, and I loved the music for the opera. It was really good. Also the set, and effects of Opera, are just unbelivable. They do some amazing things on stage to really set the mood. They only used like a few basic props that they could reagange in varrious different ways to produce a completely knew setting everytime, and I love thie use of lighting as well for the effects. I really liked the thunder and lignting they used and one of my faveorite parts of the show, was at the very begining this serpant they had.
The show itself was interesting, it was quite entertaining. It was humurus, and yet at the same time a bit disturbing and cultish, and I have to say a touch masogonistic, but it was full of all sorts of symbolisim, and well it acutaly went into aspects of Free Masonory.
Though one thing I have to say, I did quite enjoy it, but I was not really emotonaly moved by it, it just did not speak to me in that way, and I know what is one of the things people usually say about the opera, is that it is suppose to really take you through the emotions, and move you, but I did not really feel that. I do not know if it was just that particuarly perfomace that did not speak to me or perhaps Opera itself just does not strike me in that way, but I could not get myself to really by captivated by the characters or to feel with them.
And of course my faveorite characters were the ones that were suppose to be the villans, I loved the Queen of the Night, and her three servants.
It was a good sbow.
9:12 AM - 10/24/2007 - comments {0} - post commentThe Four SeasonsI have totally fallen in love with a piece of music, it is perhaps one of the most ingenous things I have ever heard done musically, though I have only heard a protion of it, the 1st movement to be exzact as it is a piece of classical music, I cannot wait for the oppertunity to get my hands on the rest of it.
I have started classes again, and the new class I am taking now is the history, theroy, and apperication of music, meant to teach non-music majors how to listen to music, and it is the study of primairly classical music, it started with the Middle Ages and now we have just began discussing the Baroque period, and with the text book for the class there are set of CD's to listen to sample music to hear the things the book is discussing, and the composer Vavildi composed a concerto (for those whom do not know music, that is when an Ocherasta plays in contrast to either like a quartet or single instrument) called The Four Seasons, and it is what is known as Progam Music, which is music that tells a story without words using, only insturments. So the Orchestra will play a repeating theme, and then the quartet, or instrument, will play a prelude that helps the plot along, and the prelude is always different while the themse is the same all the time.
So Vavaldi composed a concerto that is meant to tell the story of the changing of the Four Seasons, down in four movements, and each movement is dedicated to one of the seasons, so for my class we have the 1st movement called La Primavera, which tells the story of spring. So first the Orchestra plays the theme, which is happy up beat music, and then the quartet does a prelude to mimic the sound of flying chriping birds, then back to the Orchestra, and then the quartet immitates a winding brook with a gentle breeze, then back to the Orchestra, and then the next prelude is thunder and lighetning, and then back to the theme, and then the prelude does this really intense the storm is stratign to break, and blows over and th birds come back, then it goes back to the theme, and then another prelude that is the birds signing happily again.
It is just amazing to actualy listen to, and I really want to see what he does with the rest of the three seasons. I totally love this thing. 3:35 PM - 10/12/2007 - comments {0} - post commentMack the KnifeI do not know how many of you are famillar with the song Mack the Knife, it is a bit of an oldie, This is just a little bit of intresting trivia I had come acorss. The song Mack the Knife, was originally written for and used in a song for an Opera that was preformed by thives, highwaymen and prostintues, in fact many of the names referenced in the song were the name of prostitues that preformed in the opera.
And just for kicks here are the lyrics:
Oh the shark has pretty teeth dear When the shark bites with his teeth dear 10:26 PM - 10/4/2007 - comments {1} - post commentName that tuneOk who wants to try and help me guess the lryics of a song based on extrmely vauge lyrics? There is this song I have heard a couple of times, and it is a somewhat older song, but I never caught what it was called or who it was by but i kind of like the song, and for some reason the only thing that sticks out in my mind is there is this one line in the song that says.
"There was a genie in a bottle"
and it was a woman signing the song, I know that much.
When I try to google it all I get is this stupid Christina Augilaira song called Genie in a Bottle which I know is not the one I want.
So if that rings any bells to anyone by any chance, or even if you just have a wild guess, any help would be appraicted on this. 11:56 AM - 9/16/2007 - comments {4} - post commentFar Away BoysI just listend to what is perhaps one of the most heartbreaking songs I have heard. It was one of the very rare and few songs that would almost make me want to cry. The lyrics were very powerful, and very beautiful I thought, and it was so sweet and sad. It is called Far Away Boys, by Flogging Molly, a Celtic Rock band, though this song was done in a more traidtional Irish Folk style, and I just thought I would post the lyrics.
Far Away Boys Flogging Molly
Well I worked on the railroad 11:23 AM - 7/17/2007 - comments {0} - post commentNew ObcessionI have recently become obccessed with International, or what is called World music, which quite self-explinaorialy is music from all different parts of the world. Well acutally it is not techniqually true that I have just recenetly become obcessed with it persae, I have always had an intrest in music and sounds from all over the world, becasue so many places have so many different instruments which produce an arrwy of new and exotic sounds and I most particuarly love more traiditional/folk type music from acorss the world but I have just recently stumbled upon this site that has free mp3 downloads of a large collection of World music, as well as other things like Indi music, and off beat kind of stuff. Music that you would not likely buy or find in your average music story, which is really cool. So I have been listning to and downloading music from all over. Even when I cannot understand what the people are saying, I still love just to listen to them sing.
3:35 PM - 6/26/2007 - comments {2} - post commentThe Stalker SongThere is just something about a good stalker song, that you have to love. And by stalker song, I mean those songs that are about someone stalking another, like for example Every Breath You Take, by Sting is a classic stalker song. There is just something so distrubting about those songs that sink down into the skin, and it is just that fine line between Romance and Dementia that is full of intrigue and tingles the skin and the other unique property of the stalker song that you just have to love, is the fact that becasue it is that they are alway from the stalker's point of view and so you are pulled into thier mind, and becasue it is thier voice that you are hearing, they are the ones narraiting to you, you find yourself then pulled onto thier side, and almost routing for them in almost an unconcious way. Even when you understand what is going on and the message behind what is being said you get drawn into and thier dellusions become your own as you start to almost see thier own rationality in what they are doing. I was just listning to a great stalker song by Nickleback.

3:31 PM - 4/18/2007 - comments {0} - post commentHelp finding song lyricsThere is this song that is used in the new Ford commercial that I have been trying to find the full lyrcis for. The song is called Miles and Miles, by Dee and that part that is in the commercial is
"I like the view from above
does anyone know the rest or where I can find it? I tried google but I cannot find it there anywhere. And the song does show up in the itunes store when I looked it up, so I do not think it was made just for the comercial but I cannot track it down online. 8:46 PM - 4/17/2007 - comments {3} - post commentLoosers come in firstWell I just heard something that I could not help but to find somewhat ironic in a way, I was watching The Colbert Report, and he was doing this thing on what he called the Four Horseman of the A-Pop-colyps, and it was all about some of the best sellters in Moives, TV, Music, and Books
And for Music he was talking about this album by this guy Chris Dauchry which I guess was a top selling album, though I had never heard of the guy, apperently he was like a 4th place contestant on Amercian Idol last seaon. So how is it that on Amercain Idol, the show in which Amercia is suppose to choose thier idol the person they like the best, as that is the whole point of the show, the guy who was a 4th runner up ends up having a best selling album, when as far as I know Taylor Hicks, the acutal winner, and the alledged choosen Amercian Idol by Amercia, has done nothing as far as I know sense he won the show? I have not heard his name sense last season of Amercian Idol, and though I do not exzactly keep up with mainstream music, I hear bits and pieces here and there.
So go figure that one out. 10:52 PM - 3/13/2007 - comments {1} - post commentIf I Was PresidentThere is this song I had heard once a couple years back, it was like on the first season of the Chapella (I know I botched the spelling) Show, though I am not found of the show in general there was nothing else on and I happend to have the TV tuned into Comedy Central, anyway, they had this guest signing, but at the time I did not catch thier name and they sang this song that had a really good beat and a great message that I really liked, and I cannot remeber how it happend, or just where but as of recently the song came back into my attention and I decided to see if I could look it up on my itunes to download to my ipod, and I found it.
Listining to it again, it is really quite an amazing song. It has a strong message, and well it is a song that I can really feel and has a lot of deep emotion to it, though I will forewarn it is a political/protest song, with a strong liberal bent (which should not be surprsing to anyone who has read my blog) there is this one line in the song that I think is really great
But the radio won't play this. I also think the chorus is just great and well with the whole song there is something almost sad about it escpacally sense it is not hard to imagine that it would be true, which is really quite sad considering who is in office now.
If I was president,
The song is called If I was President by Wycelf Jean and I strongly recomend anyone to check it out 5:43 PM - 1/16/2007 - comments {0} - post commentI have any idea, anyone intrested? This is an idea that I have had for a few years now, but I have never really done anything with it because there are aspects and peices of it that I do not fully understand or do not have the talent for, but this year I decided I wanted to try and make it happen, but to do that I am going to need the help and expertise of others.
So here is my idea, to create a cd (and if it goes well, maybe a siers of cds) of Winter Solistice/Yule music, that is mustic for the comming holidays designed for Pagans to enjoy, that express and incoperate Pagan spritualty and the meaning of the Yule/Solistice to Pagans, becasue there is plenty of music on the raido that references, Christ, Christianty, or Christmas, and there are a few more genertic type of holiday songs, but of course there is nothing spefically for the Pagan and yet there are a few songs loaded with the Christan meaning of Christmass.
As a writer it is my wish to be envolved in helping creating the songs, and writing the lyrics, but I cannot sing to save my life, and I do not play any musicial insturments, nor doI have knowledge of the bussiness end of how to make this happen, so if there is anyone out there who can offer thier services and talents to this project I would be much obligied. And of course, I am also intrested in anyone else who wants to help on comming up with ideas/lyrics for the songs. Whatever you can give that would help out here.
Now I would like to make a couple things clear, I am not looking to hire anyone for this, becasue I cannot I don't have any money, but that does not mean I am asking for charity work either, though if anyone can and is willing to donate thier time or services or anything that can help, by all means, but I am looking to establish a partnership in which anyone who is involved and participates in making this happen will share in the profits from the sale of the cds.
Also though I am a Pagan making a product for Pagans, it does not mean you must be a Pagan to help out if you are just into music or have something you can offer, whatever you beleive, I welcome anything you can bring to the table.
There are 3 ways in which anyone intrested can contact me. Post a comment to this entry Send me a PM ( Or e-mail me at WhimsicalWarrior@aol.com
I look forward to hearing from you! 5:51 PM - 11/26/2006 - comments {0} - post commentCan Anyone Help?Does anyone out there happen to watch VH1 or if not perhaps the below lines will sound famillar to someone out there.
Earlier today my brother-in-law was flipping through the channels and came to VH1 and they were playing this show called Fresh in which they air what are suppose tobe the hottiest new music and videos and there was this song playing that both me and my sister swear we heard for a TV show or movie tralior or something but could not recall where and I wanted to look it up, but I never caught the name of the song, so I was going to look up the lyrics to find out what the song was, but at the time I couldn't and when I got around to it I could not remeber the exzact lyrcis any longer and tried to google what I did recall but found nothing and I tried to look it up on VH1 to see if they would list the videos they played today but I could not find anything, so all I recall was that it went something like this "Now that I found this is exzactly where I want to be" that was the chrous where it just kept repeating those lines, or simillar such lines over and over, and I know the singer was this woman with dark longish hair but I do not know her name. 8:44 PM - 11/24/2006 - comments {0} - post commentCan anyone help?I do not know how many of you are famillair with the show Meduim but it had just premiered for its secound (I think) season, and all during the past couple weeks they have been advertising the show and playing this song in the background, and I kept meaning to look up what the song was but whenever I would hear it would be a bad time, and then I would not remeber the lyrics later and now that the show has already aired they do not play it anymore, so if anyone else has heard the song and can help me please let me know.5:43 PM - 11/17/2006 - comments {3} - post commentTis the season to be spookyWell we are all famillar with Christmass music, which they will probaly begin playing as soon as Novemeber starts, but chat about this comming holiday, yes of course I mean Halloween, Christmass is the only holiday that comes with its own soundtrack, and so here is a collection of what I would consider Halloween appropiate songs, they come from a playlist upon my ipod which I call Witches Brew
Spooky by Classic IV Dragula by Rob Zombie Little Ghost by The White Stripes Dr. Bones by Cherry Poppin Daddies Grim Grinning Ghosts (The Haunting Mansion/ The Offial Album Disnyland) Black Magic Woman by Santana Moon Baby by Godsmack Televators by the Mars Volta Time is Running Out by Muse The Saga of Molly's Revenge by Molly's Revenge Pagan Zydeco by Windy Rule, Clive Olson, Avalo 8:27 AM - 10/24/2006 - comments {0} - post commentLoose YourselfI know that Emenim is the source of much controversy or has been in the past, and that many people have strong feelings about his music and the matterial in which he chooses to sing and so on and so forth, and though I will not say I have supported him nessciarrly but I have supported his right to express himself in whichever way he choose reguardless of what others thought or any offensive it might have given. I am strongly against censorship. But all that aside, though his music and rap in genreal is not usually to my taste, it dose not mean I will never listen to it or don't find a few good songs here and there, and I have to say no matter your feelings or thoughts about him and his music, or rap Loose Yourself I think is truly a remarkable song I would recomand giving it a tree and setting aside any resorvations you might have. Of course you might hate it all the same, but you also might be surprised. And I am not asking any one to change thier thoughts and views about Emenim I still do not particuarly like him but that dosen't mean he dose not have some talent. I just think you should give this one song a try. It is like the old clique, "Don't shoot the Messeanger" but in this case reversed, don't ignore the message becasue of the messenger. I have to say that Loose Yourself has a certain affect upon me, it is a powerful song and it is not one of violence or obsentity, there might be a few bad words here and there but overall I do not think it is a negitive song.1:01 PM - 8/19/2006 - comments {1} - post commentProtest SongsIt is nice to see that Rock and Roll still stands for something, and is more then just good music. Here is my list of recomended war protest songs of the 21st Century.

Sacred Lie--Disturbed
Lonely Train--Black Stone Cherry
Not Ready to Make Nice--Dixie Chicks
War--System of a Down

There is one more I want to add, that I have heard upon the raido a couple of times but I haven't caught the artist or the song name. 11:47 AM - 7/30/2006 - comments {0} - post comment
