Reversed Sexism

Posted in Thoughts
Sexism is still very much alive and well, and now I am not about to go on some feminist rant, but rather I am talking about sexism against men.

Yes, that is what I said. Don't believe me? Well then I shall explain.

It seems to me that it has become perfectly cool and acceptable to degrade men, but if you say anything in condemnation of women, well that is just a travesty.

I wrote this poem primarily just to amuse myself, just something I rattled off which I posted on this poetry forum I belong to, and it was written about a particular type of woman.

It was a poem written about the type of women who literally dress like prostitutes and wearing skirts that look like they should be belts, with their asses barely covered, and thongs showing, and their boobs scarcely covered and hanging out in the open. Women who dress with their flesh on blatant display but then act offended when they receive the kind of attention they present themselves as wanting.

The poem was written from a male point of view, and was sympathetic toward the pale about these kind of women, and how if they go out of the house looking like that, then the guys are not to blame for looking.

Well I was completely crucified and made out to look like this horrible person, and a few people suggested that I was condoning rape, which I was not at all.

Just because I wrote a negative poem about skanky women I was some how this terrible person. It was all quite ridiculous, and I posted it as humor, but everyone took it so bloody literally and seriously.

Though I can all but guarantee you if I wrote the exact same poem but slanted it to indicate men instead of women, everyone would have loved it and applauded me.

A Proposal to Pro-Lifers

Posted in Thoughts
I just heard what is about one of the best ideas ever, and so I had to share. I only wish I could take credit for it, because it is so richly classic, but it came from a near acquiescence of mine.

Everyone who is pro-choice should have to sign them name into a national registry and whenever a baby is put up for adoption, one of their names should be randomly drawn, and they assigned a baby that they have to take in and look after.

Since you are so insistent that these unwanted babies be born, here you go.....you can now have the responsibility of it.

What? Did you say you don't want the baby?

That you did not choose to have a baby?

Oh....but it is a blessing....you have been given this gift, you have been chosen to have this baby.

So, you are saying you shouldn't be forced to take care of a child you don't want?

Someone should seriously propose that idea to a pro-lifer and just see how they react to it and what they say.

Botched

Posted in Thoughts

There was this TV show that came out which I was really excited about, it was called Legend of the Seeker, and it was suppose to be made after Wirzards First Rule, the first book in Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. But the show was syndicated so it was not just a regular cable channel, so it was hard figuring out just what channel locally here it would be on, and what time it was going to be on, so I missed the season premieer of the show, and tried to find when it would replay but could not find it anywhere, so I thought I would just wait and rent it on DVD to watch.

So I was flipping through the channels one day and there was nothing on when I came across one of the Legend of the Seeker episodes, at first I did not want to watch, but then I figured I read the book so I already know what is going to happen so it would not really matter if I watched. And well the totally changed it around. It is nothing like the book was. They added things that were never in the book and completely redid scenes, and removed characters that were in the original story and added characaters that were not in the story. So I was quite annoyed by that.

Then again today I was flipping through the channels and happend upon another episode of it, and was just killing time so figured I might as well watch, and it really annoyed me more so then the first time. Why is it that vilans must always have dark hair, and be regulated to look a certain way? And that no one can break from that tradidtion? Within the book the main evil villan character in his physcial apperance is quite untradidtional. He is not your typical run of the mill bad guy. Within the book he is dipicted very clearly as having blond hair, and there are multiple references to his hair, and he also wares shinning white robes. So in the tv show, what do they do? They give him dark hair, and have him dressed in red. Why?

The Missing Link

Posted in Thoughts
Sunday night I was desperately flipping through the channels in seek of something to watch before I had to force myself to resign to bed for lack of any entertainment to keep me up, when I happened to come across this show on VH1. It was called Tool Academy. The idea behind the show was it was this group of the worst boyfriends, and of course some game show on a music video channel is going to be the thing that reforms them and fixes the relationship. But that is not the really good part.

So at first the guys do not know why they are there, they think the show is called Mr. Amazing, and that the show is to prove the most manly of men, and I swear to you, I exaggerate not here. Watching that group of men, it was literally like watching animals. I mean it was the most fascinating, disturbing and flabbergasting thing I have ever seen. I felt like it was some anthropologist study. I mean I never truly thought men like that actually existed. I thought it was just some stereotypical mythos. Watching them on that show, it really felt like I was at the zoo watching a primate exhibit.

I believe that they were literally within 2 minutes of starting to grunt, beat their chests and throw feces. This show really is all you need for proof of evolution, you cannot watch them and not see the striking similarities between man and beast, and how clearly we are related to monkeys.

I was watching the whole thing just gaping. I could not believe what I was seeing. It felt surreal.

A Sucker is Born

Posted in Thoughts

I just saw what has to be the biggist most obvious and blatant as well as stupidist scam, and yet, I am sure there most be a precentage of people that will acutally see it and think it sounds like a good idea.

I am sure many of you are familair with those commericals for varrious different types of collector coins. Well I just saw this one for a 5 dollar gold coin that has this indian head engraved upon it. And they are going on about how rare it is becasue of the economy they are not going to be making anymore and it is the last one and so and so forth. And like all those call in TV ads go, of course it really is worth so much more money then they are acutally going to tell it to you for. It is vauled at like $40 but you can get it now for $19.95.

But the best part is, the coin they are acutally selling, isn't even the real coin it is a copy of the coin. So when you add in tax and shipping and handaling and all that. They want you to pay them over $20 for a  $5 dollar coin, that acutally isn't really even worth $5.

For whoever is going to acutally buy that, I have a stock pile of bridges for sale. Give me $20 and I will gladly give you a fake $5 dollar coin.

Even though I know they are suppose to be for collactable reasons, and are not meant to be spent, I never understand why someone would pay $20 for a coin that acutally really was worth $5 no matter what they engraved it with, or painting on it, or what certificates it came with. But to buy a copy of a $5 coin. It is like they are not even trying to trick you anymore. They are blantently telling you that they are ripping you off.

As much as I ravenlously hate Bush, I am sure most of you have heard the story about his dog biting the reporter, becasue everyone has been playing it. And it is just ridiculous, becasue now they are saying how the guy who got bit now has to get rabbie shots. First of all, personal feelings aside, does anyone legetimately beleive that the preisidents dog. The dog that has been living in the whitehouse acutally could possibly have rabbies? Or have been exposed to rabbies? And secound of all, you usually only have to get a rabbies shot if if cannot be varrified that the dog that bit you had had its current up to date vaccinations. Reguardless of how I feel about Bush, I find it hard to beleive that his dog hasn't had all of its proper shots. There is just no reason why he would acutally need to get rabbies shots for this. Unless they do things differnetly in different states.

While it is a wonderful day for the Country. It may yet prove to be a shameful day for California.

Proposistion 8 which I have mentioned here a couple of times but just to recap is the Prop that wants to change the U.S. state consistution in order to make it illegal for gays to marry, right now is in the lead to pass. While there are still many votes yet to be counted and it cannot be called. It does not look good as things currently stand.

The Lost Generation

Posted in Thoughts

I have become obcessed and fascinated with what has come to be known as the "lost generation." I am taking an English class in the American novel, from 1914-1945 I think it is. And the so called "lost generation" were primiarly the Americans, those that had some personal experince with the war, WW1, and what the effects of the ward did to them. After the war was over, they felt all of thier old vaules, and what they once knew of the world was shattered. They had both inner as well as physcial scars. After the things they wittnissed, the things they lost, and the things they had to do, they felt as if morality had shattered around them, they became numb inside and no longer did anything truly mean anything anymore. As well, there was the difficulty in adjusting after the war, they could no longer return to and adapt to a normal life, in order to "feel" anything again, they needed that excitement, that adventure.

Many of them became what were known as ex-patriots because they stayed over in Europe and just wondered around aimlessly, they did not feel they could return home again after what they have been through. Many of them formed these little artists communities and became writers or painters, and it was from them that a lot of "mondenization" and exprirmental stuff began to explode.

For my Englist class we read The Sun Also Rises, though I had already read the book before, reading it again, and thinking about it on a deeper level, and discussing it, the book really came to have a strong impact upon me, when I thought of what the characters in the book really represented. As the story is about a group of this sort of lost generation. And thinking about the motives of the characters for why they truly are how they are. It really is a remarkable story but when it seeps in it is also terribly depressing. But it left a lasting impression upon me.

Then in my History class, I was reading about the new generation or Mexcian-Americans, the children of the Mexican immigrants, those that were born in the US with parents that came from Mexico, and it was around the same time as the war in the 1940's and the children of the immigrants, they formed there own little sub-culture which reminded me in a lot of ways of the lost generation and which I found to be quite interesting. They were called the Zoot-Suiters becasue they tended to dress in the popular fassion of the day, which many are familair with the old zoot sutis, and the 40's fasion, but with the new genration of Mexicans, they really exgerated the style to make it thier own and to stand apart from the others, and they reason they formed this little gang of theres was becasue they were trapped between two different worlds, neither of which excepted them. Becasue they did not have the old world vaules of thier parents they were disaproved of by the old generation, but becasue of prejudice and discrimination they were not embraced in the dominant Anglo culture either. So they created this little world of thier own where they could idenifty with each other and find some sort of unity.

Headed for the Lynch Mob

Posted in Thoughts

Well I have this on going saga and becasue it is starting to get interesting and amusing, and becasue nothing is going on right now, I thought I would post it here. I had orignally began posting it in another blog of mine, and sense I do not feel like retyping what I wrote I am just going to post it here as I did in my other blog, and this is something that has been going on over a few days, so I sill just post it in segements.

Day 1

I think I am about to be accused of being a racist in my history class. I am taking a history class about Mexican-Americans, and the Southwest, and it is an online class, and we have this message bored for the class where we have discussions based upon our readings in which we can post anything we want in the reading for that week, and analysis certain passages, give are interpretations, and such of the like.

So in one of the books Mexicanos: A History of Mexicans in the United States by Gonzales, he had this section comparing Mexican immigrants to European immigrants and was talking about how today many European immigrants have now moved into the middle class while Mexican immigrants remain in working class, and he suggested that his has to do with continual racism of the Anglos. And he also did not differentiate between immigrants and illegal immigrants.

So I was just like, I disagree with Gonzales, and while I will not deny that there is still existing racism, the fact is that many Mexicans do not make any attempts to adapt to American culture and while no one has to completely give up their own roots, if one is going to move to another country they should be prepared to adjust to that culture. And the fact is many of them do not learn to speak English, so there are other factors as to why Mexicans may not be moving ahead.

And also, the truth is many of the Mexicans in migratory work are illegal immigrants, and while they should not be exploited, illegal immigrants should not be given the same entitlements as an immigrant who goes through the process to become a US citizens.

And I have a feeling that is not going to be a popular view.

Day 2
Ok it is official.

I had the first person tell me that my views were racist, and bias, and accused me of saying that Anglo culture was superior to Mexican culture.

Then he accused me of saying that illegal immigrants were lazy, which I did not say anything remotely close to that.

Day 3
Hahaha, ok that was just too hysterical. So my "little frined" in response to my counter-argument against his accusations that I am rasist, continues to try and put words in my mouth I did not say, and continues to go out of his way to misunderstand me.

But the best part is, he says he calls upon me to retract my statements?

HA! Or what?

He has zero power and authority over me. What is he going to do if I do not retract my statements?

Continue to think I am a rascist?

Psh!

As if I all of all people care what some random douchebag thinks of me. If that is what makes him happy then he can go ahead. While I get the pleasure of knowing I am irritating him, I can sit back and laugh at whatever he wants to say about me, becasue I simply do not care.

At times like this being a misanthrope comes in handy, becasue you do not take things like this personally. You just get a sadistic pleasure from it.

Stay tuned to fine out what happens next!

Reoccuring Trends, not Products of Mondernism

Posted in Thoughts
One of the things which annoys me about Modern society is the tendency of people to be, egosocitistical, yes I made that up but it is the best way I could thing to term the word. And what I mean is the tendencies for society to presume that everything is a product of modern society, that any little problem, or eccentricity, is blamed upon the state of the modern world, and is blamed on this that or the other thing, and seen as some horrible consequence of the modern world and everyone wants to look back to this idealistic "golden age" in which these sorts of things did not exist and which everything was better. The problem is 9 times out of 10, these things are not in fact products of the age, but they are reoccurring events/situations. They may fluctuate, ebb and flow, there may be times when they are more prominent, but it does not change the fact they were not birthed by the modern age, but they are in fact historically rooted.

So what am I talking about in particular today?

Metrosextuality, I am sure by now most of you have heard that term. Just recently I had heard someone talking about how one of the results of feminism now is the emasculation of men, and the tendency to discourage masculine behavior, and make men more effeminate and I have heard other such things many times before. And of course it is all taken in the view as being some new thing that is a product of this age. The problem is, that simply is not true. Now the term Metrosexual is a modern invention, but the concept behind it is not something new. It was not created by the modern age, and it is a pre-existing condition.

Perhaps some of you are familiar with the term Dandy and for those who are not, you probably know where I am going with this.

Dandyisim was particularly popular in the late 18th to early 19th century. And what is a dandy you may ask? Well a dandy was a man whom put a great deal of emphasis upon his physical appearance, who spend a lot of attention to his personal grooming, knew all the high, popular fashion, and always dressed in the best most up to date clothing. They were men who typically tended to be very effeminate in nature and they typically came from the middle class but had an eye for the autocracy and were often trying to get into such circles. Dandies favored activities of luxury, they enjoyed socializing and going to balls, and the opera. They had very refined tastes.

Here are some Dandy quotes

A Dandy is a clothes-wearing Man, a Man whose trade, office and existence consists in the wearing of Clothes. Every faculty of his soul, spirit, purse, and heroically consecrated to this one object, the wearing of Clothes wisely and well: so that the others dress to live, he lives to dress ... And now, for all this perennial Martyrdom person is, and Poesy, and even Prophecy, what is it that the Dandy asks in return? Solely, we may say, that you would recognise his existence; would admit him to be a living object; or even failing this, a visual object, or thing that will reflect rays of light....

-
Thomas Carlyle, "The Dandiacal Body", in Sartor Resartus

One should either be a work of Art, or wear a work of Art - Oscar Wilde

Nobel Savage

Posted in Thoughts
I have to say, one thing I have discovered is that as much as I do love literature and as much as I read, and read a vast majority of different things, I do not truly fit in with an Intellectual crowd. As mentioned before I belong to this Literary forum and well I enjoy discussing the books, and enjoy a few discussion groups, and well I love to argue with everyone else, my views are often askew from that of everyone else. And what the problem is that most of those intellectual types, they are all so, what is the word I want, well I guess "humane" or soft, kind of bleeding heartish, overly empathetic, very "turn the other cheek" or "don't judge others" type of thing. Like a lot of them don't believe in the death penalty and they actually believe that world peace might someday be possible. Very idealistic. Pacifists, that is what many of them are, while I am far more aggressive in my general nature. At heart I am just too much of a barbarian to be an intellectual. I have a much harder-edged view upon things and I don't have a whole lot, (ok I don't really have any) sympathy for those who I deem as not deserving it. A lot of them are also very snobbish in ways. I am the total rebel.

Someone started this discussion all about revenge and whether it is a good thing or a bad, and of course I am all for revenge. I am a proponent of an Eye for an Eye, but everyone else is like oh revenge is so wrong, and you should forgive people, and then a couple of people wanted to talk about how the death penalty is really just a form of revenge and how a society that says murder is wrong should not have the death penalty. All the usual arguments.

But I say, if someone kills another person in cold blood. Fry Their Ass! and if is just an act of revenge, who cares, I don't give a damn about their life and to me it is worth nothing.

As for forgiveness. Pshaw, I don't forgive until I have had retribution.

Then someone tried to take this idiotic completely literal interpretation of an eye for an eye, about "Well if someone raped one of your loves ones, you would you really respond by raping someone in their family?

And I said, no, but I think death is a perfectly justifiable punishment for rape.

Then they were like isn't death for rape upping the ante?

And I say, no, it is perfectly legitimate.

To Blog or not to Blog

Posted in Thoughts

My very first blog was this blog I mad on AOL one day out of boredom because I discovered AOL recently added a blog feature, and at this time, I had heard of blogs, but had not expressed any real interest in them, but was like what the heck I am not doing anything right now I guess I will make one of the these things. So anyway, from there things had progressed and I ended up here at JH, and well I consider this blog to be much more elaborate, mature, and sophesitated, and sense my blog here my old AOL blog had passed out of my attention and well hardly anyone read it anyway.

So I have just recently had an e-mail from aol saying they were getting read of thier blog feature beacuse of low usage, and I did not give this much thought, but then they said you could have your aol blogs transfered over to Blogger.com. So now I have been deciding if I should do it or not, though I really do not have any particular reason to transfer that blog, for anything becasue I have not even looked at it in ages, and for another I have no idea what I would do with another blog I currently do not have any really need or use for a new blog, and well going back over looking at the old blog, I am rather annoyed with the whole thing, becasue I sound so bloody emo in it. Which needless to say I am not at all, but so many of the posts over there are just the dark and melo-dramatic musings of my mind. So I feel I ought to just let the thing die, and yet I still feel some compulsion to preserve it.

The Unforgiveable

Posted in Thoughts
I do not know what is wrong with me, yes, I know there are a lot of things wrong with me, but there is one particular thing of which I am speaking of right now, and that is the fact that for some reason I have such a strong, vile loathsome reaching to cheating. I know the majority of most people are disapproving of it, but for me, I really take it personally, I am deeply offended, and I myself have not in fact ever been cheated upon, so it makes no sense. I respond to it as if it was something that personally affected me, even if it involves complete strangers. Like if I find out someone was unfaithful, read something in someone's blog talking about some affair they had, or something of the sort, even if I do not know anything else about them, I will wish horrible things upon them because of that. I am absolutely convinced that it must have to do with some past life experience I have had, because my reaction to it, does not make sense to me. If a complete stranger betrays their spouse or significant other, who I also do not know, then it really should not ignite a feeling of murderous rage within me, and yet it does. I even hate it when it happens in books with fictional characters, whenever I sense one character is going to cheat upon another I get in instant feeling of dread and disgust.

Stop letting the Chruch dictate laws

Posted in Thoughts
After I gave some sass to my gay friends out there, it is time for me to come back to the other side again. All it took was listening to some anti-gay ignoramuses on the radio to get me all fired up, and while I still believe individual churches still have the right to refuse gay marriage I do not think they have the right to determine the laws.

Here is what I think. Personally I do not think Gay Marriage should be put to vote. I think it should just be a given, than in the United States, Gay Marriage is legal, period. End of story, don't like it, too bad. Now why would I, who is often spouting for freedom and rights even for people who I do not agree with hold this view?

Because last time I checked there is suppose to be this little thing called separation of church and state, and the primary reason why Gay marriage isn't legal in the majority country is because of religion. Period end of story. A discriminatory law is being allowed in the the USA because of the views of one particular religion. In the issue of Gay Marriage religion is being given power over the government and the citizens.

99% of all arguments against Gay Marriage are purely religious, and 99% of people who are against gay marriage are so on the grounds of their religious belief.

So the government needs to just step in here and say screw you religion, this is not a Papal Country, we are not run by the church, and we are no longer going to allow a religious organization propagate laws that go against the constitution of freedom and equality for all.

I think there needs to be more atheists in movement. Because from what I can see there is no plausible non-religious reason to be against gay marriage. Religion can still have their own personal individual rights, but I am tired or religions being the base of allowing bigotry laws within the country.
I defy anyone to produce a convincing, intelligent argument against Gay Marriage, which has absolutely no grounds in religion whatsoever. I have yet to hear it made.

A word to my Gay friends

Posted in Thoughts
Anyone who reads my blog, probably knows by know that I totally support Gay Marriage, and Gay Rights.

Gay people, I love you, and I support you, but you have got to stop acting like A-holes, because believe me, that is not doing you any favors. You don't get to go around spouting about your own rights and freedoms, while trying to deny other people their own rights and freedom. Not everyone has to embrace your choices, and accept your lifestyle. Legally they cannot do anything to discriminate against you, but they are still entitled to their own personal beliefs and within their own churches they are allowed to have their beliefs and you do not have the right to infringe upon that.

I was just listening to the radio about how churches that refuse to perform gay marriage ceremonies are being threatened under lawsuits, and how Gays are trying to sue to be allowed into religious sectors and organizations which do not support or agree with their life style.

If you want to get married, than great, I wish you the best, I totally agree you should be allowed to do that, but if you go to a church and they tell you they don't want to marry you as a gay couple because it is against their beliefs, while I personally do not agree with Christian Conservatism, and Religious Bigotry, it is their right to hold those beliefs, and within their own church it is their right to act upon their beliefs. Just because you have the right to be married, does not mean you have the right to force a church to perform the service. Just as you are allowed to have the freedom to choose to get married, and to live the lifestyle you want. They also have a freedom to choose their own personal beliefs and to decide they do not agree with your lifestyle.

Even if a particular church refuses to marry you, you have other options to get married, you are not being prevented from your right to marry by a churches refusal to perform the service. You can go to a judge, or find a more liberal church.

But trying to say you have rights and freedoms, that you than want to deny other people from having, is not cool, and is not going to earn you any favors.

There was another story about a wedding photographer who refused to photograph a gay wedding because it was against their beliefs, and so they are now being sued.

Again, not cool. Guess what, they have the right to feel that way. Stop trying to force everyone to accept you.  On your wedding day, why would you want that sort of negative karma and energy anyway? Of someone being there grudgingly and resentfully, and not really sharing in the celebration with you.

Wouldn't you prefer to just find another photographer, their is no shortage of wedding photographers, I am sure you can find someone who would be more than happy to do it of their own free will. And all around, wouldn't that be better? To have someone there because they really want to be there?

Just the way you have rights, other people have rights to, even if they disagree with you.

So I love you guys, and agree you should have all the same legal rights and freedoms as anyone else, and that legally you should not be discriminated against. But sometimes you need to take a few deep breaths step down from your high horse and be a little bit more of a mature adult, and realize maybe other people have their own rights too, and you should not try to infringe on the rights of others, while you are fighting for your own rights.

What do I know

Posted in Thoughts

Now admittedly I know nothing about fashion, and I do not have any interest in doing so. I am not overly concerned with matching, and I just ware whatever I want to ware. But sense when have I ever let a think like that prevent me from mocking others for entertainment value?

So I was watching MSNBC because they have some good political stuff on their and I get some good anti-Palin material from them, and this guy who was hosting one of the shows I like to watch, (he was actually a stand in host, the other guy who usually does it was not there) was wearing a gray pinstripe suite with a blue polka-a-dotted tie. And in my mind, pinstripes and polka-a-dots just do not go together, and I was thinking, what the hell where you thinking.

But than the guy who he was interviewing on the show was wearing a black pin-stripe jacket, with a red polka-a-dotted tie. So I was just like, well I don't know what I am missing here. But I personally don't get it.

My soul is saved at last

Posted in Thoughts

People really can be quite amusing at times. Though sometimes I wonder just what they are really thinking, or if they take the time to think at all. And can they really be that dillusional?

As to what am I talking about?

On one of my other blogs, The Spiders Den, which is focused around discussing Vampires, Werewolves, Myth, Lore, and varrious things of a dark, Gothic nature, of which happen to meet with my personal interest. Someone felt the need to post the Gospal of Jesus.

Now do they really think, that after all these years,  when they can see the interests I clearly have. That them posting that, is going to completely change my mind and I am going to renounce everything I have ever beleived in because of that?

Now I understand in thier minds, they think I am in alligence with the Devil and that my soul is in mortal peril, and it is thier duty to try and save me, can they really think, that me reading that is going to make me suddnely "see the evil of my ways" and accept Jesus as my savior.

I was tempted to give some snarky, sarcastic reply, but than I thought, do I really want to encourage them?

Fox, the death of potentially good shows

Posted in Thoughts

So I was all excited about the new show Fringe, I had seen previews for it, and it looked really interesting and it is by the same person who did Lost, and I love Lost. But I did have some concerns about the fact that it was on Fox. I know I love House, and House is on Fox, (somehow they got that one right) but as a general rule, it seems that Fox has a way of taking a good premisis and runining it.

There have been several shows which looked interesting, but made me cringe when I discovered they were on Fox and than when I went to acutally watch them, well my interest never lasted long. Prison Break I tried watching, but could not get very far into. There was one show about some sort of illegal car race. Driven I think it was called, that I tried watching but could not get into. And I am sure there have been others over time. but other than House, I do not think there is any show on Fox I have ever stuck with.

So I go to watch Fringe, and it seemed that my fears were not unfounded. The season premiere of the show could not even hold my interest from beginning to end, and I have already decided I do not think I really want to keep watching it. Though for lack of anything else on after House, I am likely to just let it play in the background.

Palin: Fact and Fiction

Posted in Thoughts
Fact: Palin used the power of her position to have someone fired because they would not fire her brother-in-law, whom she wanted fired for her own personal reasons. She than replaced the person she fired with a high school friend of hers.

Fact: Plain tried to have a Liberian fired because she refused to ban certain books from the Library.

Fiction: That little story she told at the convention about having to fire the cook, and how unhappy that made her children.
Fact: The cook in question still works there and is still cooking.

Fiction: Palin sold her company jet on e-bay and made a profit.
Fact: The jet was not just her personal company jet, it was used for the transport of prisoners. And though she did put it up on e-bay, it would not sell there. No one would meet the asking bid. Eventually she did sell it through an Aviation service, but in the deal, she lost money, and not gained it.

Fiction: Palin was against the bridge to nowhere
Fact: Originally she was for the bridge, and did not stand up against it until after she saw the idea was unpopular. And than after she decided against the bridge she still kept the money which was given to her for the construction of the bridge.

Fiction: Palin is responsible for bringing reforms to Alaska
Fact: The reforms she now takes credits for were already set in motion before she took office, and would have gone through with or without her.

Fact: Palin belongs to a Church with very antiquated views which include:
Speaking in tongues
The coming of the Rapture
and that Homosexuality can be cured through prayer.

Don't Preach what you can't practice

Posted in Thoughts

As you know, I am not one to often talk about current news and politics, simply becasue you get enough of that on TV, in the news and from others who are dedicated to discussing such, so I like to offer something a little different most times, but every once in a while, something will come up that I just want to rant about.

So the big news now of course if McCain's VP choice Palin. And I am sure everyomne has heard about her 17 year old pregnent daughter sense that is all everyone is talking about. Now on the one hand I do not think that really is relveent to anything and that it is a personal matter that does not refelect upon the mother's ablity to be VP, and I never much pay attention to the personal stuff they dig up about Polititions, becasue that is not what I really care about.

Yet, on the other hand, Palin is one those big advacators against teaching birth control in schools, and is one of those absecentence only people. And do I really want the woman with a 17 year old pregnant daughter to lecture me the evil's of teaching children birth control? As we can all see, how well her absecentence only plan worked out within her own household.

I mean really how can she even say that with a straight face.
