Their own worst enemy

It seems to me that I am constantly hearing Christians boo-hooing over the fact they their religion is criticized so much, and that so many people have Anti-Christian views. Christians are always whining because they think they are being picked on, and of course they think the reason why there is such strong Anti-Christian sentiment is because the rest of us are just evil, and sinful and bad, and it is because of homosexuality and atheism, and the world itself is just gone to hell in a hand basket.

But they fail to realize the reason why so many people do not like Christianity is not because of the religion itself, but because of Christians. This might sound a bit contradictory, but I have always said, that I truly do not have a problem with Christianity as a religion in itself, what I do have a problem with is the way Christians choose to practice their religion.

Truly I think that if Christians were more like Hindus and Buddhist just off doing their own thing and only worrying about themselves, and leaving the rest of the world alone to figure itself out, than people really would not care, and people would not have a problem with Christianity.

But when you go strutting around clucking about how you are right and everyone else is wrong, and anyone who does not agree with you is in league with the Devil, and those that do not follow God are ignorant sinners who do not know any better. And when you act as if you do know what is better for everyone else. Well than of course you are going to piss people off, so don't be surprised when there is a backlash against you.

I believe that people do not truly have a problem with Christianity, what they have a problem with are Christians, and the two can be separate things. And the are totally oblivious to the fact that if they would learn to just butt out of the lives of everyone else and just worry about their own lives, people might start to like them a little better.

But if you go around telling everyone else what to do, you are not going to be in the popular group.

Plain and simple Christians are just the bullies of the world, and like most bullies, when people turn around and start picking on them, well they cannot take it, and they want to run home and cry about how horrible everyone else is. They never take their own actions into account.

Sheep Need Not Apply

In the US there is this Adopt A Highway program in which groups and organizations can sponsor a section of the highway, donating money in order to help pay for its good repair and than they get a sign by the side of the road that says "The section of the highway sponsored by such and such"

Apparently one of these signs has stirred up quite the controversy, as hard as that might be to believe.

But well there was one of these signs up which said "Sponsored by Atheists and Other Freethinkers" and some people claim that the sign is meant to be a slight against religion, and that it is suggesting that people who are religious are not freethinkers. But personally I really do not think this sign is making any sort of anti-religion statement at all, I do not think it is about religion.

The way I see it, it is one of those things were if you are offended by it, it is because it does apply to you. If someone sees this sign and is offended by it, it is because they know they really are not free thinkers or that they belong to an organization that does not support free thinking, and they just do not want to accept or acknowledge that truth.

A true Atheists would not agree with or support my beliefs any more than they would that of anyone else, but I know that even though I hold a certain faith I am also a free thinker, so I do not find that this sign is insulting to me in anyway, and I am not offended by it or find anything insulting by it, though I am a spiritual-religious person. And there was one other person that called into the radio station where I first heard about the story supporting what I said. He said that he was a Christian but he also knew he was a free thinker, and so he really did not find that the sign was anti-religious, because it did not apply to him.

So I think that anyone who comes forward against this sign, is just admitting that indeed they are not free thinkers. And the guy hosting the radio show was really adamant that the sign was a slight against all religion and was a claim that all religious people are not free thinkers like they are. And so I could not help but to wonder, what that said about him.

I think trying to say that the sign is against religion in general is just a way for people to veil the fact that actually the sign is really only a slight against them personally.

Atheletes of Wannabe Model

I flipped on the TV to find that a tennis match was on instead of the show I usually watch. Now I do not watch tennis and I have no real interest in tennis, and yet tennis is evil. In that whenever I happen to find it on I always get sucked into watching it, even as I am sitting there thinking that I do not want to watch and have no real interest in what is going on, I cannot look away, at least for the first few minitues before I come back to my senses.

But anway, it was a womans tennis match, and one of the players was wearing earing on the court while she was playing, and they were these like fancy tear drop earings not just like a stud. But dangling earings. And it just lookesd stupid. What was she thinking, presumbly when she got up in the morning she knew ahead of time that she was going to have a tennis match today and so when she dressed it was with that in mind. So what in the world made her decide, you know, what I really need is to where these earings to spend the majority of my day running around back and forth upon the court.

A new toy I acutally want

Posted in Thoughts
I so need one, though I cannot afford it. I just heard of the coolest new device that has come out. Now you know I am usually not one to jump on the latest technology, in fact usually I am the last to finally get into it, if I do at all. But this is right up my ally. I could have some real fun with this baby.

There is now a device that can be used to block any cell phone call within like 100 feet I think it was. It cost 300$ but it would be worth it, if I could afford that. And you just flip it on and any one in the area talking on their cell phone will loose their signal.

Come on show of hands who DOSEN 'T want one? Right?

I know if ever managed to get my hands on one, I would use it for the movies. As soon as I stepped into the theater I would just flip that baby on and enjoy.

Also when I am in class. I really do not understand how someone going to college cannot figure out to turn off their cell phone, and I really get annoyed when I have a teacher that is soft of lenient about it. This last quarter every single class, the same like 2 people's phones would always ring, and sometimes, particularly this one girl, it would ring more than once in the same day. You would think after the first time it rang she would get a clue. And the teacher would not say or do anything to her, she would just stand there and wait. It would drive me crazy.

Get a Clue

Christians never fail to amaze me, though I really should be use to it by now, it is just so baffling at times, I wonder just what they are thinking. But then of course I have to remember they are not typically taught to think, or to use logic and reason, all they are instructed to know is that the Bible is the truth and what is in the Bible is all that matters.

But, it never fails to puzzle me, when I very clearly state my non-belief in their God and the Bible how they will than proceed to try and "intimidate" me into accepting their way of belief, by using examples in the Bible. And I am just like, no, you are not understanding, I do not care what it says in the Bible because it does not have any personal affect upon me. You might as well be trying to use something in a fictional novel to try and convince me to do something.

But it never fails, almost anytime one mentions they are a non-believer, at least in the Jedu-Christian God, they threaten you with fire and brimstone. They do not seem to quite grasp, that their fire and brimstone to me, is all in their imagination, it is all smoke and mirrors.

It is like "You are going to go to hell"

Well I really cannot go somewhere that doesn't exist. And in my world, there is no hell so I am not really not all that worried about it.

I was engaged in this discussion in which because I stated my non-belief in the Jedu-Christian God, and the Bible, they told me that God would say I was a lost soul.

And I was just like, well sorry, but since I worship the Goddess I am not really worried about what your God thinks of me.

You might as well tell me that Huck Fin would disapprove of me. For all the good it is going to do.

Oh Canada!

Posted in Thoughts
I relentlessly mock America for the fact its bleeding hearts, and the fact that complete and total morons are allow to sue someone else for their own stupidity and how this country no longer seems to really believe in personal responsibility, and the government trying to protect people from themselves, and so on and so forth. But I think it may just be possible Canada is worse. I just hope they do not start giving America any ideas.

I just heard this story on the radio. There was this 12 year old girl, and she was caught by her parents posting inappropriate pictures of herself on some online dating site, so her father banned her from using the Internet. Than in some issue apparently relating to her ban from the Internet she got into an argument with her step-mother and so her father said she could not go on this school trip that was planned.

So this 12 year old girl took her parents to court, because she did not like the way in which they disciplined her. And not only did a judge agree to hear the case, but actually ruled in the favor of the 12 year old girl. And told her father, that he did not have the right to keep his child from going on the school trip, and that it was unfair to the girl to do so. And so he was ordered by the court to allow his child to go upon this school trip.

So the law in Canada will overule the way parents disicpline thier children

Warriors Bow or a Misanthrope's greeting

Posted in Thoughts

As I am sure many of you have heard, everyone now is making a big deal over the fact that Barak Obama uses the fist bump, or as apperently it is officallica called the Dap. And in the news paper today there was this whole stupid thing about What is replacing the handshake, and it had all these varrious different type greeting gesutres popular today, and where they came from, who uses them and so forth. It had the Fist bump (Dap), the chest bump, the high five, and so forth. But it made me think that just for the heck of it I should come up with my own greeting method, and being that I do not like to have physical contact with others it should be one that does not acutally involve touching.

Then I remebered in highschool there was this thing that me and this friend of mine use to do. I think it dervived from some form of martial arts bow, it is a sign of resepct and honor that does not envolve having to have any contact with the other person.

Basically you just touch your left fist to the plam of your right hand in front of you. The original version is to give a bow at the waist as you do this, keeping your head up so your eyes do not look away from the other person, as it was oriainally a warrior's bow. But the simpliifed version we use to do, is just give a nod/bow of the head to each other as we made the hand gesture.

The Darwin Clause

Posted in Thoughts
I had a rather good idea come to me, though of course I know it will never happen, espcially in the U.S. with all the damned annoying bleeding hearts, but really I think it would make things all so much easier, and better in the long run, and it would save money.

I have decided there should be what I like to call the Darwin Clause, in the court system. In which, if a person does something blatantly stupid and that anyone with even a shred of common sense would just say well duh, and they get themselves hurt doing it and than try to sue someone else for it, the judge just be able to just say. "After reviewing your case, I have decided that you are too stupid to deserve any money, case closed."

I am also really sort of liking the fact of bringing back public flogging so to try and discourage people in the future from trying to get money from someone else because they are morons, if the judge turns down their case in the Darwin Clause, they should than be flogged at least 10 times, in public, for trying to waste people's time and money instead of taking responsibility for their own stupidity.

And I think included in this clause should also be, if a person is drunk, and hurts themselves in a public facility in a way that is directly related to them being drunk, and would not have happened if they were sober, and than they try to sue for it.

You know how many frivolous lawsuits this would get rid of? Also it would curb the behavior, once people begin to realize, they cannot just get rich or at least a healthy sum of money just by trying to cry wolf.

And maybe, under the Darwin Clause if one tries to someone one, and the one being sued obviously and clearly, were not in any way responsible for the accident than the person suing them should have to pay a fine to the ones they tried to sue.

Of course the rules of the Darwin Clause would only apply in cases of extreme blatant stupidity or also, if one gets hurt because they ignore safety rules and than try and sue.

For example if one was at an amusement park, and on a roller, where there are signs everywhere that say, to stay seated at all times, but during the ride, they decide to stand up and than get decapitated by some piece of equipment. If their family tries to than sue it should come under the Darwin Clause.

MLA

Posted in Thoughts

Well this is not the sort of thing I usually talk about, but becasue I feel like ranting about it, I am going to do so. I do not know how many people will know what I am talking about, but I have noticed there are at least a few blogs around here that deal with subjects relating to college.

There is this thing known as MLA format, I have no idea what those letters stand for, and that does not really matter, but basicaly it is a standard universities use for college essay papers, which has guidelines and "rules" of how to do end note, foot notes, citing refrecenes, using qutoes from other works within a paper, and etc. the technological elements of the paper.

Now on the one hand, it makes sense that there would be some basic standard becasue it could get confusing for grading purproses if everyone was doing thier own thing, as well, for people that have not previously had to been exposed to writing such papers it gives them a format to use, and makes the paper more formal.

The problem comes into the fact that for some reason, whoever it is that has created this MLA and whoever is in charge of setting these rules and standards, think that they need to constantly change the rules and regulations, everytime you turn around. It seems like every single quarter once you get use to one system all of the sudden, it is like no, you have to do this that and the other thing now.

Now, I cannot for the life of me understand how that is nesscary? What is the possible benefit for always chagning it? Why cannot they pick a standard and stick with it.

The other thing, which is somewhat off topic, but still related to the subject, is that why from like elementray shcool to highschool, at least around here, I do not know what it is like in other states, if it is the same, but wherever I went to school, teachers always tell you to write your name on the right hand side of your paper, when in college according to MLA you always do it on the left hand side? Why don't highschools just do it that way so you get use to it.

Though in my experince so far, teachers themselves are not too meticuculous if you do not follow the MLA to the letter, if you write a really good paper.

Would you like some glass with that?

Well you know how there are somethings in which there is like a 1 in the million chance of happening? Well that is just the sort of thing that is likely to happen to me.

I am sure most of us are familair with Gran's they make the pre-made dough for like biscuts, and breadsktics, and crustants, and so forth, that you just have to put on a pan and bake.

Well I was making Jumbalah for dinner, and thought it would be nice to have some bread with it, and there was no fresh bread in the house at the time, and so I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do, and we usually have some of those around the house, so I was looked in the fridge and found some, and I usually prefer the breadsticks, so I pull out the container for the breadsitcks, and open it up, and I am pulling off the strips of dough to put on the pan for the breadsticks, when I feel something like sharp and hard poking me in the dough and I was like what is that? So I start pulling the dough apart and I kid you not, there were little bits of broken glass within the dough.

So I ended up just throwing it all out.

Bunco

Posted in Thoughts

Well I was close to right. The name of the game I had mentioned in an earlier post is acutally Bonco or Bunco. Though my memory did fail me a bit. It is acutally a dice game not a card game. I decided to do some research upon the game becasue I was currious as to just where it came from and such.

Here is a basic overview of the game:

Strictly speaking, Bunco is a game of dice, played in rounds. Players take turns rolling the dice and trying to accumulate as many points as possible to win each round. The game is played at tables of four in competing teams of two.

Players score points by rolling three dice and trying to match the number they're supposed to roll for that round. They get a point for each die that rolls the number, and if all three roll the number they score 21 points. They also score 5 points for rolling three of a kind of any other number. They get to keep rolling as long as they score one or more points with each roll. Once they fail to score they pass the dice to their left and the opposing team gets a chance to score.

During each round the teams at the Head Table try to score 21 points. The first team to score 21 points wins the round and play stops. At all other tables play stops when the Head Table play stops and the team with the highest score at each lower table wins the round.

At the end of the round players change seats, the winners at each of the lower tables move up a table, and the losers at the head table move to the lowest table. Players also switch partners at the end of the round, so you never play with the same partner twice in a row.

During play, players track the number of rounds they win and lose as a team, and the number of Buncos scored individually, on their personal scorecard. At the end of the night wins/losses and Buncos are tallied and prizes awarded.

Here is a little history on the game:

Bunco dates back to the late 1800's and was played by groups of women, school children, and couples. The old fashioned game of the future is becoming ever more popular at parties, social events, and new groups are popping up across the country.

This progressive dice game, under it's original name of 8 - Dice Cloth was played in England during the 18th century. It was unknown in the United States until 1855, when it was introduced into San Francisco during the Gold Rush by a crooked gambler. This shady character, traveling from the East to West coast had made many stops in route to the California gold fields. He also made various changes to the gambling game he called Banco. After a few years the game and activity was re-christened Bunco or Bunko. During this same period, a Spanish card game, Banca, and it's Mexican derivative, Monte, were also introduced to the population of San Francisco. Bunco Dice and Bunco Cards were combined to form a more efficient method of separating the hard working citizens from their money at numerous gambling locations. These locations were known as Bunco parlors. Hence, the word Bunco came to be a general term that applied to all scams, swindling and confidence games. After the civil war and into the turn of the century, Bunco flourished as the population grew and the economy recovered. Between 1870 & 1880 in virtually every large city in the country, Bunco- Banco games were in operation. Some Bunco locations were furnished elaborately while others resembled professional offices.

During the 1880's and into the mid 1890's, Bunco was played in Texas & Oklahoma, through Kansas & Missouri, in towns and cities along the Ohio and Mississippi rivers , and from New York to the Great Lake states. Through the Victorian era and prior to WWI, Bunco had achieved permanent placement as a traditional family or parlor game, promoting social interaction. During this period Bunco groups consisting of 8-12 people and as many as 20 people enjoyed an evening of food, drink, conversation, and friendly competition. During prohibition and the roaring 20's, the infamous Bunco gambling parlors resurfaced in various regions of the US The most notorious speak-easies and Bunco dice parlors were located in and around Chicago, Illinois. The term "Bunco Squad" referred to the detectives who raided these establishments!

After prohibition Bunco group activity declined in the major cities of the country, but spread to the suburbs as housing development and the migratory population expanded nationally. Not much was heard about Bunco activity from 1940-1980. (WW II, Korea, Vietnam.) Since the early 1980's Bunco group activity has increased due to a combination of circumstances; a return to traditional family values , a sense of neighborhood & community and, the desire & need for social interaction. Traditionally most Bunco groups consist of 12 players (usually groups of women & occasionally couples.) Kids are even beginning to play at parties & other social events. Playing Bunco is great way to maintain relationships and make new friends.

This was just amusing, it is the dictionary difinition of the word Bunco:

A swindle in which an unsuspecting person is cheated; a confidence game.

Nostalgia

They were talking about video games on the radio, as that is always a popular issue, and than one person called in about how he and his wife and thier friends play WoW and such, and the guys on the radio, was talking about how really that is not so different than back in the day when people would through bridge parties and sit around to play bridge, and well that just got me thinking.

Back in the day when I was younger, I remember every new years my aunt would have this part, win which we would play this really elaborate card game that lasted almost all night. I cannot remeber what it was called, but I keep wanting to call it Blanco, but I am pretty sure that is not right. I do not know where the game first came from, or where my aunt heard about it, and I think when he played there were prizes involved for the winner.

Now it has been a while, but this is the best of my memory of the game. There were all these different tables set up in my aunts house, and groups would gather around the tables, and it was some sort of card game you played, but than I think in addition, each player had this little like score card thing, and you would play this card game, and than after so long, a bell would ring, and at that point, whoever had the most points marked it on thier card and than everyone rotated to another table, and it would go on like that, you would move from table to table playing with different people all the time, and each time you won you marked it on your card, and than when someone had thier card filled out they would have to shout out the name of the game in order to offcially win.

Average Joe

Posted in Thoughts

One of the things I do not like about the university I am going to is the fact that it seems to lack a certain individuality there. What I mean is, that everyone just appears to be so average or normal in the way in which they dress. Though often times, I can be just a jeans and t-shirt kind of person, I also have been known to be rather quirky and have my own sense of style. I will just wear whatever I want to wear, what I think looks cool. And i love wearing clothes I think touch back to the Middle Ages, or the Renssicance, also like a little vintage/victorian flare. I love tunics, and shalls and capes and cloaks and sashes, and so forth. Let us just say when I go to a Ren. Fiar, the sort of things I wear to "dress up" basicaly consist of my regular daily clothes.

Now it is true that becasue of my transportation issue was of the moment, (i.e. me not yet having my drivers liscense) I only attend an off site campus that is closer to my house, and I have only a few times been to the main University Campus when I needed to buy books at the campus book store for classess.

But when I was attending Community College, there was a lot more sense of style, and individuality there, more people that could apperciate my off-beat sense. I would get people that complimented me on my cape and other such things, and really dug my digs.

But at the university, everyone just looks like everyone else, I do not really feel a particular inclination towd anyone, though for the most part they all seem nice enough, but well just a bit bland for my general taste. I do not think I have yet had one class where I saw someone that just reall struck me. They all look the same, they are like from a different realm than me, and I do not feel as if I am really one of them, or that I fit in among thier kind.

Now granted I am the last person in the world to attend school of the sake of wanting to socialize, and I am perfectly content to just keep to my own but nonetheless I do not mind the passing aquintence, and back at DVC (The community college) there were a few people that did catch my eye, and well I would have people ask me to read Tarot for them as it got to be rather well known that I was a Pagan. And this might sound a bit contradictory, but though I do not like to socialize, I do enjoy good conversation now and than, perhaps that is one of the reasons I like the interenet.

Play It Out

Bill O' Riley is an idiot, I know many people are thinking well Duh! But believe it or not it is actually not his political views that I am here to make fun of now. But it is because of my feelings regarding his views that I take pleasure in mocking him now.

They played this clip of him on the radio show that I listen to, in which, apparently, at the end of his show, they were suppose to have Sting play from this new album that he has out, and I am sure many of you are familiar, if you have ever seen a show with a musical guest to play at the end, while they credits are rolling, it is fairly normal for the host to say something like here is "so and so" to play us out.

Well that is what Bill O' Riley was suppose to do. At the end of the show he was suppose to say here is Sting to play us out, but when he say "play us out" on the teleprompter, he was totally confused, and did not understand what it meant, or what he was supposed to do or say, and so at first the technical guy try to explain to him, but than twice, when he tried to say, he just could not do it.  And so he literally threw a tantrum in the studio because he could not understand or figure out how to say "Sting will play us out" so he ended up having to write out his own lines to say.

I began to regret having left that coment on thier blog, and considered acutally delelting it, and might still do so, supposing they offer that option on thier blog, as I have not went and checked yet.

Execution of Your Choice

Posted in Thoughts

I do not know how they first got on the topic of it, because I missed the beginning of the show, but on the radio that I always listen to in the morning, they started talking about executions and like the different executions different states have, or the different options for execution they have, and this gave me an idea. Albeit a rather morbid idea, but than such is to be expected from me.

In the way that when someone is about to be executed they are offered their last meal, in which they may choose to have anything and everything they want to have, I think that one ought to be able to choose their own method of being executed, and if any bleeding hearts try and claim something about cruel and usual punishment, just produce a signed contract stating that the prisoner of their own free will choose this manner to be put to death. Granted doing this would probably be expensive in the long wrong,

But, though I do not plan on ever finding myself in such a position of being executed, hypothetically speaking, if I were to be, I want to be guillotined. The guillotine is by far my favorite method of execution.

No Mercy For the Swine

Posted in Thoughts

As you know, I do not often talk about popular media stories or current events, but every once in a while I will be inspired to voice my thoughts on just such an issue. This has been a big story around here, I do not know how many others have heard of it, so I will give a recap of the story.

Basically there was this Mormon Commune in Texas and this alleged 16 year old girl, as now no one know who she is of where she is or anything about her. Called in to the authorities and reported this commune and acts of sexual abuse which were occurring, involved men within their 50's having sex with 15 year old girls, and so on and so forth.

So they went into the commune and rounded up all the kids and took them from their families and are holding them currently in a University dorm, while they investigate the claim, and they have been talking about it a lot on the radio, and here it seems as if a lot of people think that the government was over zealous in taking the kids away from their mothers, as many of the children were rather young, and there was not any reports I do not think of physical abuse against the children or any physical harm to the young children, the main issue was the underage sex with the adolescent girls.

So I have thought over this whole issue, and I am usually the last person in the world to defend anything the movement does, but I had come to the decision that, you know what, I think they should have had their children taken away from them.

And the way I view is like this.

If someone wants to go off somewhere and dress like it is the 1800's and isolate themselves from the rest of society and live off the land, and do the whole sort of Amish/Quaker lifestyle, than I say go for it, they have the right to do that and it is not any ones business. You know what, I do not even care if someone wants to be a polygamist, hey as long as everyone is a consenting adult and decide that is how they want to live their life style, have fun and good luck. Not any of my concern. I do not care if people want to live unconventionally, and raise their kids in an unconventional lifestyle. It is their right as far as I am concerned.

And here is where the but comes into play.

When you have your own little society in which young girls are more or less brain washed either through religious doctrine, or simply not having any other examples to go by, that as soon as their bodies are physically mature i.e. as soon as they have their menstrual cycle regardless of their age, they need to instantly start reproducing, and having these men old enough to be their fathers having sex with them, that is a problem.

And even if not everyone at the commune was participating in this particular activity, even if the mothers themselves were not doing any physical harm to their children, they were all there, and they all knew what was going on, and they decided they were cool with it. Every single adult on that commune is responsible in one form of another for what was happening, because if they were not actively doing it, they were enablers by not resisting, by just sitting back and letting it happen.

If they wanted to live in that kind of life, a group of them could have said, hey you know what, I think society is vile, evil and corrupt, and I do not want to have anything do with it. I want to find god by doing my own farming, submitting to my husband, and being wife number 6 but having sex with underage girls is not cool, so why don't we just leave this group and go do are own thing somewhere else.

But they did not, because they do not see anything morally wrong with that sort of behavior. So I do not care if according to the evidence, 6, 7,8 year old girls, or boy children are not in anyway shape or form being abused and are not in any direct harm or danger, and I do not care if the mothers of the children are not actively doing harm to their children. They all supported what was happening and they were willing to expose their children to it, so yes, all of them, whether they were an active participant in what was happening or not, deserve to loose their children.

Spare the BS

Posted in Thoughts

Well sense Fightingfemale is often posting about her pet peeves I thought I could share one of my own, though this one is considerably at the bottom rung of the great tower of things which annoy me, but it is one that has most recently come to my attention and so I am freshly irritated about it.

One of the things which just grates on my nerves. I think because of the sheer hypocrisy of it, as well as the false drematicism, and hint of almost martyr like complex it reeks of. Is when I am sitting here, reading a blog, which states within the blog, about how here they have come to post their deepest most intimate secrets, that they do not want in the public eye, and yadda yadda.

And I am sitting here thinking to myself. Ok, considering I am reading this, and I do not know you personally, and I am on the internet, than I am pretty sure it is public. I just do not care for that line of bullshit, it is so attention getty, people trying to pretend, they do not want the very thing they are indeed after.

If one truly, and sincerely did not wish their private thoughts to be known, they would go to the store and they would buy a journal and start writing in it, or if they are too lazy to handwrite, or feel they cannot for whatever reason safely keep something handwritten in their house, than they would just open up a private blog for only their own personally viewing pleasure.

But if something is posted, where other people can in fact read it, than it does not matter if that blog hose as 10 million, 10 thousand, or 5 members it is still public, point of fact.

And you are posting it there, because you do indeed want other people to read it.

Soy

Posted in Thoughts

I just read a rather interesting article in Utne called the Dark Side of Soy. Of course today, in the Unitied States, soy is herealed as the big saint of health foot, and is consumed in mass, there are several subsitute soy products. Soy milk, tofu, there is soy vegitable oils, soy flower, and the list goes on.

One of the reasons soy is reaguded so, is becasue studies showing that heart disease and certain cancers occur in considerbaly low numbers in Asian cultures, and soy is seen as contributing to that, which is a big part of thier diet, and soy does indeed have some health benifits.

But leave it to America to take a good think and turn it bad. This where American greed, consumersion, obcession, supply and demand, technology, alwyas knows best attitude comes to bite them in the ass.

In Asia they consume only about 9 grams of fermented soy, and usually within sauces or soups known as miso.

Most American soy products contatins more than 20 grams of non-fermented soy. In addition, to as they always say, too much of a good thing can be bad, non-feremented soy acutally contains anti-nutraints.

On top of that, for one thing America has found a way of extracting every single part of the soy bean for use, including parts which were never traditionaly used for human consumtion, and the way it is processed in America can acutally cause potentialy harmful additites to the soy.

In eddition, to that, people are consuming soy they do not even know about becasue of the fact that soy in one form or another is used as an indgrediant in a wide varity of different products sometimes under other names such as: textured vegitable portian, hyrolyzed vegtiable portian, or lecithin.

Also, not every soy bean is alike, and there can arise certain problems in the transfering process between here and Asia, as well soy beans that are grown in the Unitied States may not be the same was those grown in thier natural enviroment.

Of course it is imporant to understand, that is not to say that soy is "bad" or lacking in benifits, only, it is best when used in moderation, and the way it was originaly intended to be used.
