| Here is the end of the first month of my second semester at Wilfrid Laurier University. The first semester saw me close with a B average; not bad, but I'm seriously hoping to improve that this semester. I've come to the conclusion that, although I love English - English courses (in first year at least), SUCK! I do not want to become an expert at critical analysis of poetry or a novel; I want to develop greater techniques and strategies in the craft of writing! But, alas, I am to find no such thing in my first year. I sincerely hope I will be able to come across such a course in my upper years, but for this, I am holding my breath. History has undoubtedly shifted from my Minor to my Major with English coming in as a likely minor, accompanied by Classics and/or Philosophy. Also, Medieval studies is lurking in my academic pursuit as well. Apart from scholarly adventures, my pursuit of writing is continuing (although it has considerably slowed). My short story: Nightmare Heaven is continuing and nearing its midway point or at least it is beginning to start its descent towards the (in my opinion) climactic and very satisfying end. At least, it is satisfying to me... I don't doubt that readers (if there are any) will be somewhat frustrated or perplexed by the ending; but nevertheless that is the type of writing I enjoy. |
