No major movements transpired this week in the ratings game for both daytime and primetime viewing, although there were some interesting side stories that colored this week's competition. Although it failed to land a spot in the Top 10 daytime race, the tandem of Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino managed to pull one over the triumvirate of Janice de Belen, Gelli de Belen, and Carmina Villarroel last Thursday, October 4, as Boy & Kris raked in a decent 11.2 percent rating against SiS' 10.8 percent. This is according to the overnight ratings conducted by AGB NIelsen Philippines among Mega Manila households. The presence of Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin as guests boosted Boy & Kris' showing, which of late has been hard pressed to barge inside the winning circle. The show's impressive rating, however, was only good for No. 11. Daytime programming this week continued to be dominated interchangeably and even simultaneously by Eat Bulaga, Meteor Garden, and Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap. Last Monday, October 1, Eat Bulaga and Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap shared the honors with identical 24.5 percent performance. The next day, October 2, Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap and Meteor Garden both occupied the second spot with 23.6 percent behind Eat Bulaga's 24.1 percent. Lurking dangerously was Pasan Ko ang Daigdig which moved to the No. 3 slot yesterday, October 4, based on the strength of its 22.9 percent tally. Wowowee, on the other hand, continued to slump as its ratings barely made it on the Top 10. Marian Rivera's Marimar meanwhile remained untouched this week, refusing to give in to the pressure exerted by its close rivals. Marimar opened the week with a 35.4 percent showing before steadily tightening its grip as the week progressed. Judy Ann Santos's Ysabella fell off the wagon as it succumbed to Rustom Padilla's performance as a gay fashion designer in Magpakailanman yesterday, October 4. Last Wednesday, October 3, Ysabella was still able to catch the last ride with its 22.9 percent rating. But the interesting Rustom Padilla proved to be too much for Juday and company as it relinquished the number 10 spot to Magpakailanman, which garnered a 20.8 percent rating against Ysabella's 20.3 percent. The regular daytime programming of two of the country's largest networks, ABS-CBN and GMA-7, had to be scrapped last Sunday, October 7, to give way to the much-awaited rematch of Philippines' pride, Manny Pacquiao, against Mexico's Marco Antonio Barrera. Dubbed as Will To Win II: Pacquiao vs. Barrera, the boxing event was aired on the Kapuso Network. The Pacquiao-Barrera fight, which was won by our Pambansang Kamao by unanimous decision, registered a whopping 50 percent rating based on the overnight ratings conducted by AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households. As expected, the boxing match that lasted six hours on television"including the undercard fights"was the highest-rating program last Sunday. ABS-CBN opted to show two Star Cinema movies, which had its Philippine TV premiere yesterday, in lieu of their regular programming (ASAP '07 and Your Song). The Judy Ann Santos-Ryan Agoncillo starrer Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo posted a 19.2 percent rating while Vhong Navarro's Agent X-44 got 11.7 percent. The high rating of the Pacquiao-Barrera match rubbed on to GMA-7's Sunday showbiz talk show, Showbiz Central, as it beat ABS-CBN's The Buzz again. Showbiz Central, which had an exclusive interview with Pacquiao, posted a 21.7 percent rating against the 12.5 percent of The Buzz, which had an exclusive interview with Martin Nievera and Nora Aunor, among others. Sunday's primetime viewing was pretty much the same, except for Tok! Tok! Tok! regaining the lead from last week's No. 1, Kap's Amazing Stories. Also, for the first time, GMA-7 has reached 29.3 percent audience share, which is a very big margin compared to ABS-CBN's 11.1 percent. Meanwhile, Marimar finally reached the 40-percent mark last Friday, October 5. Before Friday, the Marian Rivera-starrer had never reached 40 percent, although it consistently topped primetime viewing except on a few occasions. The last episode of Mga Mata ni Anghelita was also well received as it got 36.4 percent, good for No. 2 spot. Three other Kapuso shows (Zaido, 24 Oras, and Jumong) occupied the rest of Top 5 slots while five shows from the Kapamilya network occupied the sixth to tenth slots, with Lastikman (27.9 percent) leading the pack. Likewise, the final episode of Meteor Garden topped all daytime programs with its 23.5 percent rating. Two GMA-7 Sine Novelas, Pasan Ko ang Daigdig and Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap, placed second and third, respectively. Eat Bulaga! (19.5 percent) grabbed the fourth spot while Wowowee (17.2 percent) took the sixth spot. For second day in a row, ABS-CBN's daytime talk show Boy & Kris rated higher than GMA-7's SiS. The Boy Abunda-Kris Aquino talk show got 12 percent compared to SiS' 9.7 percent. All in all, GMA-7 had an audience share of 18.7 percent while ABS-CBN got 14.7 percent. Saturday (October 6) viewing had a surprise twist when public-service program Wish Ko Lang, which celebrated its anniversary, topped all daytime programs with 22.7 percent rating. Eat Bulaga! placed only second while Mark Herras's Fantastic Man was third. Wowowee was the highest-rating program for ABS-CBN with 16.7 percent, good for No. 4. Finally, Bitoy's Funniest Videos was once again the top primetime program last Saturday, where GMA-7 got 18.5 percent audience share compared to ABS-CBN's 11.8 percent. Just like any race dealing with statistics, GMA-7's Marimar is showing frequent highs and some moderate lows. But like any competent warrior engaged in a tough competition, any setback means sufficient reason to regain ground. |

Marami pa po akong gustong gawin as an artist at hopefully ay magawa ko ‘yan under ABS-CBN." On a more personal note, ibinalita ng aktres na masaya ang kanyang lovelife ngayon with her businessman boyfriend na involved sa shipping, realty, and gym businesses. Two years na sila ni Orion Casareo at seryoso naman daw sila sa kanilang relasyon. In fact, ito pa nga raw ang nag-encourage kay Angelika na pumasok sa negosyo, gaya ng office materials and equipment supply business niya ngayon. |

Next year, mas maraming pelikula siyang gagawin, pero bawal munang isulat. Basta gugulatin daw nito ang kanyang fans dahil bago ang kanyang makakapareha.

ABS-CBN's Kapamilya Deal or No Deal daytime debut last September 24, Monday, started on a promising note and continues to do so for the week, as proven by its impressive showing in the ratings game for this week. After nailing the second spot overall for daytime last Monday, Kris Aquino's game show figured prominently, although it slipped down to No. 5 last Tuesday, September 25, with its 19.3 percent rating behind Meteor Garden's 19.4 percent tally. This is according to the overnight ratings conducted by AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households. Deal or No Deal's decision to guest celebrities for this week seems to be working to the show's advantage anew. After Maja Salvador graced the show last Tuesday, Roxanne Guinoo and boyfriend Jake Cuenca followed suit last Wednesday, Sept. 26. For the said episode, Deal or No Deal garnered a 20.5 percent rating, good for fourth spot overall. Curiously, Gretchen Barretto's appearance yesterday, Sept. 27, failed to generate much attention as proven by the 17.6 percent rating. In contrast, Willie Revillame's Wowowee seems to be experiencing a steady decline. For the entire week, the controversial noontime show lagged behind the other daytime shows. Last Tuesday, Sept. 25, Wowowee claimed the No. 8 spot via its 15.6 percent rating. It slipped however to No. 9 for two consecutive days, Sept. 26 (16.5 percent) and 27 (16.9 percent). Because of this recent development, many are beginning to think that perhaps the ghost of the "Wilyonaryo" controversy is starting to haunt the said show. ABS-CBN's daily morning talk show, Boy & Kris, is also experiencing the same problem as it failed to barge inside the Top 10 bracket this week. Recently, it was reported that ABS-CBN will reformat the said show to boost its performance. Gong over to the primetime slot, Zaido is now assuming Impostora's former role as Marimar's chief nemesis in terms of viewership. After an impressive debut last Monday, September 24, Zaido zoomed to the top last Wednesday, Sept. 26, as it gathered a 34.8 percent rating, edging out Marimar's 34.6 percent. ABS-CBN's Lastikman is also doing well, mostly occupying the fifth spot this week, rising from its debut ranking at No. 6 last Monday, September 24. Apat ang leading men ng tatlong bidang babae: sina Polo Ravales, Paolo Contis, Luis Alandy, at si Mark Herras in a special role.

But do not expect a collision between the two new soaps dahil hindi sila magkatapat ng oras.

Bukod kina Kim at Gerald, mapapanood rin sa I've Fallen For You sina Albert Martinez at Chin-Chin Gutierrez. |

"Sabi ko, "you're so sexy.' |

Nothing beats a real-life drama presented in full color. The battle between Eat Bulaga! and Wowowee became more than just a matter of two noontime shows slugging it out for most viewership. As it turned out, the escalating feud involving Joey de Leon and Willie Revillame gave the public another reason to surf channels during siesta hours. In the recent survey conducted by AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households from August 28 (Tuesday) to August 30 (Thursday), Eat Bulaga! maintained its strong showing in the daytime slot, although controversial Wowowee is still very much into the race. Last Wednesday (August 29), Eat Bulaga! carried a slim 22.7 percent lead against Wowowee's 21 percent. It was the same day Willie publicly spoke about the "Wilyonaryo" controversy and his disgust at Joey for allegedly making snide remarks to fuel public doubts even more. Yesterday, August 30, Eat Bulaga! gathered a 24.1 percent marker as Joey answered Willie's remarks at the tailend of the program. Wowowee, on the other hand, got 22.6 percent to place third overall during daytime. Taiwanese soap opera Meteor Garden continues to have its way against Margarita and most of the afternoon programs. It maintained its grip on the number two spot yesterday (August 30), except last Tuesday (August 28) where it was upstaged by Kung Mahawi Man Ang Ulap, which came up with a 20.6 percent rating. Marimar continues reigned on the primetime slot. Its rating shot up to 35.7 percent yesterday. After trailing behind for several days, Mga Mata Ni Anghelita dramatically improved its standing as it overtook the lead against rival Kokey and placed second overall for two consecutive days, August 29 and 30. A new number one in the overall ratings game and a new show debuting at third spot. These are the stories that colored the long weekend, which extended until Monday (August 27) in accordance with the advance celebration of National Heroes' Day. ABS-CBN's Boy & Kris finally showed its muscle last Friday, August 24, by gathering a strong 13.7 percent rating compared to the 12.6 percent showing registered by GMA-7's SIS. This is according to the overnight ratings conducted by AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households. Edu Manzano's Kapamilya Game KNB? once more dominated its timeslot by trampling counterpart Takeshi's Castle in runaway fashion. Game KNB? collected a 22.1 percent rating while Takeshi's only managed to come up with a 13.5 percent performance. Controversial ABS-CBN noontime show Wowowee, which was recently accused of altering game results, overtook the lead against stiff rival Eat Bulaga! last Friday by notching a 20.9 percent rating against the latter's 20.3 percent mark. In the primetime slot, Marimar grabbed the top spot again with its impressive 33.1 percent rating, closely followed by Kokey with 32.2 percent rating. Meanwhile, Impostora continues to shine with an impressive 31.9 percent rating while Kris Aquino's Kapamilya Deal or No Deal followed with 25.4 percent. Charo Santos's longtime running drama anthology, Maalaala Mo Kaya, in the, meantime clobbered Bubble Gang by posting a 20.5 percent rating against the 17.1 percent registered by its competitor. Last Saturday, August 25, saw Edu Manzano's new game show, 1 vs. 100, debuting impressively at number three overall with 27.3 percent rating. Eat Bulaga! maintained its supremacy during weekends by redeeming itself with a 21.8 percent marker versus Wowowee's 19.8 percent. The battle of the showbiz talk shows loosened up a bit with Startalk gaining an upper hand with a 16.9 percent rating while Entertainment Live tallied 11.7 percent. Bitoy's Funniest Videos still occupied the top spot overall with a 29.9 percent rating followed by the 27.9 percent tally collected by Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho. Last Sunday, August 26, Sen. Bong Revilla's Kap's Amazing Stories grabbed the top spot with a 29.7 percent rating while Paolo Bediones's Tok! Tok! Tok! Isang Milyon Pasok trailed behind with a 27.5 percent rating. Earlier that day, SOP's 18.8 percent beat ASAP '07's 14.5 percent rating. SOP's strong showing could be attributed to Michelle Van Eimeren's surprise phone patch on-air conversation with ex-husband Ogie Alcasid's current girlfriend, Regine Velasquez. GMA-7's showbiz talk show Showbiz Central beat ABS-CBN's The Buzz for the second time in a row. Showbiz Central posted a 19.1 rating aganist The Buzz's 17.0 percent. In the comedy sitcom department, Vic Sotto's Full Haus took Aga Muhlach to school with a 16.5 percent rating against Aga's That's My Doc's, which got 13.2 percent. After reigning for two weeks in a row, Marimar was finally dislodged at the top spot by GMA-7's news program 24 Oras Monday, August 28. 24 Oras shot up to the number one spot overall based on the strength of its 33.8 percent rating while Marimar's 31.4 percent was good at number two. Kokey came in at number three with a 30.9 percent followed by rival Mga Mata ni Anghelita's 29.9 percent. Meanwhile, Wowowee's rating shot up to 26 percent compared to the 24.3 percent rating of Eat Bulaga! Here are the ratings from Friday (August 24) to Monday (August 27): August 24 (Friday): 1. Marimar (GMA-7) - 33.1 % August 25 (Saturday): 1. Bitoy's Funniest Videos (GMA-7) - 29.9 % August 26 (Sunday): 1. Kap's Amazing Stories (GMA-7) - 29.5 % August 27 (Monday): 1. 24 Oras (GMA-7) - 33.8 % Source: AGB Nielsen Philippines |

An escalating word war between two comedians. Twenty-four hours after Wowowee host Willie Revillame expressed his sentiments against his staunchest critic, Eat Bulaga! host Joey de Leon aired his side. Wearing a casual cotton shirt over denim pants, Joey calmly advised the beleaguered host to explain first the alleged game rigging accusations plaguing Wowowee, before venting his venom elsewhere. Bakit nagka-ganun?" Joey argued earlier today, August 30, at Eat Bulaga. Willie yesterday, August 29, openly questioned Joey's intentions for allegedly throwing snide remarks ever since the "Wilyonaryo" controversy erupted. "Mr. Joey de Leon, nirerespeto pa din kita. Huwag mong hintayin na mawala respeto ko," Willie exasperatedly challenged the Eat Bulaga! host Refusing to directly drop Willie's name, Joey throughout his dialogue referred to the Wowowee host in the third person. The veteran comedian-host then let out a food-for-thought to his counterpart: "Kaibigan, para sa "˜yo "˜to, explain before you complain. Paliwanag mo muna. Joey also called Willie to learn when to really owe up and explain sensitive issues to be fair especially to the viewers. He offered another recommendation or two, but this time in typical Joey de Leon fashion.
Taking another shot, Joey then proceeded to pun Willie's pet name to his contestants to conclude his speech. |

Wowowee host Willie Revillame got very emotional as he shared his true feelings about the "Wilyonaryo" controversy and Joey de Leon's constant remarks about the issue. Joey is one of the main hosts of Eat Bulaga! on GMA-7, Wowowee's rival program, . Willie tried to fight back his tears as he explained his side about the "Wilyonaryo" scandal that happened last August 20, where the embattled TV host accidentally pulled the wrong number in a wheel that was supposed to contain the number 2. He openly addressed Wowowee's studio audience, pointing out that he didn't cheat. Willie seemed to lose control of himself and he blurted out, "Sa mga taong may sakit, kayo lang iniisip ko, off-cam, kahit walang camera, ano ginagawa namin dito? Tumutulong pa rin kami!" Willie's frustration was evident as he addressed Joey and the frequent remarks of the latter concerning the scandal. The exasperation of his voice showed how irritated he was with Joey. Willie cried out. As the Wowowee audience cheered and his co-hosts (Mariel Rodriguez and Valerie Concepcion) stood beside him, Willie called out to ABS-CBN big bosses Gabby Lopez and Charo Santos Concio, saying that he was sorry. He also asked forgiveness of the audience. He reserved his last words to Joey: "Ganunpaman, Mr. Joey de Leon, nirerespeto pa rin kita. Huwag mong hintayin na mawala respeto ko." |

Ace comedian Vic Sotto came in defense of his best friend and Eat Bulaga! co-host Joey de Leon over the latter's spat with Wowowee host Willie Revillame. For the first time, in an interview with Showbiz Central aired yesterday, September 2, Vic candidly voiced out his disgust for what he sees as unfair tactics being done by the rival show to conceal the "fraud" issue in its "Wilyonaryo" segment. "Wag nilang lansihin ang mga tao by using my kumpare Joey de Leon na parang ginagawa nilang scapegoat si Joey. Hindi tama. Masama ang loob ko dun," lamented Vic to Showbiz Central host and girlfriend Pia Guanio. The very private Vic shared Joey's sentiments by saying that Wowowee owes the public an explanation first and foremost before diverting their attention elsewhere. "Ang problema, e, isinasantabi nila. Inaalis nila yung atensiyon. MORAL OBLIGATION. More than just defending his kumpare, Vic throughout the interview expressed utmost concern on the contestants and the multitude who pin their hopes on game shows to at least ease their hardships. "We have an obligation. We have a moral obligation sa mga manonood. It is the word fairness," he stressed. Suwertehan 'to, e. "Nung mapanood ko yung nangyari dun sa kabilang show, sabi ko, I think it's unfair. He also refused to buy the "mechanical glitch" explanation given out by ABS-CBN. KEEN OBSERVER. Speaking once more in behalf of Joey, Vic clamored for Willie to just stick on what he's supposed to do as he and his show were the ones in real trouble. And knowing Joey very well, Vic did not show any signs of bemusement with the way his friend attacked and even humored the controversy before it caught fire. "I feel for my kumpare, not because he's my kumpare, not because he's my best friend. Nananahimik yung tao e," relayed Vic before proceeding with his observation. "Alam n'yo naman si Pareng Joey, he's a commentator. Kasi matalino si Joey, he's very smart and I can see that he is very conscientious sa trabaho. |

New Kapamilya star Angel Locsin's presence in ASAP '07 and Kapamilya Deal Or No Deal help propel these ABS-CBN shows to the top in their timeslots. Angel's grand welcome in ASAP '07 last Sunday, August 19, posted a rating of 20.6 percent while its rival, GMA-7's SOP, got 17.0 percent rating. This is according to the overnight ratings conducted by AGB Nielsen Philippines among Metro Manila households. On the following day, August 20, Angel was the celebrity contestant in Kris Aquino's game show, Deal Or No Deal, and it got a high 32.8 percent rating. That figure was the highest for any Kapamilya show that day. Angel's guesting in Deal Or No Deal went up against Kapuso telenovela Impostora, which posted 30.0 percent. Many were expecting that Angel's apperance in Kris's game show would pit her directly against Marian Rivera's Marimar on GMA-7. But since Lupin ended last Friday, its original timeslot was taken over by Marimar, which is now pitted against Judy Ann Santos's Ysabella. The role of Marimar was first offered to Angel, but the former Kapuso star declined. Deal or No Deal's may be ABS-CBN's highest rater last night, but it still fell short of toppling the consistent top-rater Marimar, which posted a rating of 33.1 percent. Marimar even posted a higher rating last Friday, August 17, with a remarkable 38.1 percent. Although Kokey, ABS-CBN's fantaserye, managed to topple GMA-7's Mga Mata ni Anghelita last week, the latter fought back last night, August 20. Anghelita posted a 31.1 percent rating while Kokey got 29.8 percent. Last Friday, August 17, Kokey was on top with 33.9 percent against Anghelita's 32.2 percent. Meanwhile, Lupin's finale, posted the second highest number last Friday with 37.6 percent rating. In the battle of showbiz talk shows last Saturday, August 18, GMA-7's Startalk pounced its rival, newbie Entertainment Live of ABS-CBN. The 11-year-old Startalk got a steady 19.6 rating against three-week-old Entertainment Live, which got a 15.4 percent rating. In the Sunday showbiz talks shows, Showbiz Central of the Kapuso network narrowly beat ABS-CBN's The Buzz by mere 0.1 percent. Showbiz Central got 15.5 percent while The Buzz got 15.4 percent. Michael V's Bitoy's Funniest Videos (GMA-7), which celebrated its third anniversary, emerged as the overall top-rater last Saturday, August 18, with a very strong 37.1 percent. Last Sunday, August 19, GMA-7's game show Tok! Tok! Tok! Isang Milyon Pasok was the day's highest rater with 27.1 percent. Bong Revilla's new Kapuso show, Kap's Amazing Stories, also debuted well with 27.0 percent rating. Meanwhile, GMA-7's morning talk show SiS benefitted a great deal last stormy Friday as it posted a commanding 20.9 percent rating against the 12.8 rating registered by ABS-CBN's Boy & Kris. It is important to take note that achieving at least a 20 rating is a rare occurrence for morning shows due mainly to low audience turnout during those hours. In the daily noontime programs, Eat Bulaga! continues to dominate the competition and even landing on the Top 10 programs last Friday, Saturday, and Monday. The following are the top programs from Friday to Monday: August 17 (Friday): 1. Marimar (GMA-7) - 38.1% August 18 (Saturday): 1. Bitoy's Funniest Videos (GMA-7) - 37.1% August 19 (Sunday): 1. Tok! Tok! Tok! (GMA-7) - 27.1% August 21 (Monday): 1. Marimar (GMA-7) - 33.1% Source: AGB Nielsen Philippines |
