Baqarah 21-22
21- O MANKIND, WORSHIP YOUR LORD WHO CREATED YOU AND THOSE BEFORE YOU, SO THAT YOU MAY GUARD YOURSELVES FROM ALLAH’S DISPLEASURE.
22- HE MADE THE EARTH YOUR RESTING PLACE, AND THE HEAVENS LIKE A CANOPY, AND SENT DOWN WATER FROM THE HEAVENS, PRODUCING VARIOUS FRUIT FOR YOUR PROVISIONS. THEREFORE, DO NOT SET UP EQUALS TO ALLAH, WHILE YOU KNOW.
Here, Allah the Highest addresses the whole of mankind, not just the Muslims. Usually, when Allah the Highest, addresses mankind in the Quran, it is inviting them to believe, while when addressing the believers, it is instructing them.
Allah the Highest is inviting mankind to worship him. Worshipping Allah the Highest, is the reason for our creation in the first place: “I CREATED JINN AND MANKIND ONLY TO WORSHIP ME”. (S: 51 A: 56)
Allah the Highest, created us to worship Him, and because He created us, we should worship Him. Failing to worship Allah, is failing to fulfil the purpose of our creation.
The Creations of Allah the Highest are the very evidence of His presence. Man himself is an evidence of Allah’s presence and magnificent creation. As we know more about the intricate complexity and fine integrity of the human body, we should recognize the greatness of the Creator. Indeed, we are an outstanding sign of His presence. This is evidence for us to believe and evidence against ourselves if we do not.
Allah the Highest, created the Heavens and the Earth, and all there is in and on the Earth, for our living and sustenance. Allah the Highest sent fresh water from the clouds in the sky, for us and other creatures and plants to drink, and for our survival. The sun is there for our life and light, without it there can not be life on Earth; and the moon for light by night. Allah the Highest said: “ALLAH IS HE WHO MADE THE EARTH YOUR DWELLING PLACE AND THE HEAVENS LIKE A CANOPY, AND MADE YOU IN PERFECTED SHAPES, AND PROVIDED YOU WITH EVERY THING GOOD AND PURE. THIS IS ALLAH YOUR LORD. BLESSED IS ALLAH THE LORD OF ALL THE WORLDS”. (S: 40 A: 64)
Indeed, these are signs of Allah’s presence. “I WILL SHOW THEM MY SIGNS IN THE HORIZONS AND IN THEMSELVES UNTIL IT IS CLEAR TO THEM THAT THIS IS THE TRUTH”. (S: 40 A: 64)
Allah the Highest is expressing His dismay at the disbelievers who make equals to him. It is clear, from the universe and us, and the pattern of the creation, that all have been very meticulously designed and created, and that their creator is one. It does not require a great scientist to see this. Allah the Highest, said: “INDEED, YOUR GOD IS ONE GOD, THERE IS NO GOD OTHER THAN HE, THE MOST MERCIFUL AND COMPASSIONATE * INDEED, IN THE CREATION OF THE HEAVENS AND EARTH, THE SHIPS SAILING IN THE SEA FOR THE BENEFIT OF MANKIND, THE WATER ALLAH SENDS DOWN FROM THE HEAVENS TO REVIVE THE LAND AFTER IT’S DEATH, AND HE PUT EVERY CREATURE THEREIN, THE DIRECTING OF THE WIND, AND THE CLOUDS COMPELLED TO SERVE BETWEEN THE HEAVENS AND EARTH, ALL ARE SIGNS FOR PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND * AND OF PEOPLE WHO TAKE EQUALS BESIDES ALLAH, AND LOVE THEM AS THEY SHOULD LOVE ALLAH, BUT THE BELIEVERS LOVE ALLAH EVEN MORE. WHEN THOSE WHO TRANSGRESSED SEE, AS THEY WILL SEE, THE PUNISHMENT, THAT ALL POWER IS ALLAH’S AND THAT ALLAH IS SEVERE IN PUNISHMENT * AT THIS TIME, THOSE WHO WERE FOLLOWED WILL DISOWN THOSE WHO FOLLOWED THEM, AND SEE THE PUNISHMENT AND HAVE NO MEANS OF HELP * AND THOSE WHO FOLLOWED THEM WILL SAY: IF WE HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE AND WE WILL DISOWN THEM AS THEY DISOWNED US. SUCH, ALLAH WILL SHOW THEM THEIR DEEDS………. WILL BE THEIR REGRETS, AND THEY WILL NEVER LEAVE THE FIRE”. (S: 2 A: 162-167)
Worshipping other than Allah and taking equals with him is a sin He does not forgive. Allah the Highest, said: “ALLAH DOES NOT FORGIVE FOR PARTNERS TO BE TAKEN WITH HIM, AND FORGIVES WHATEVER ELSE TO WHOM HE WILLS”. (S: 4 A: 48)
Abd Allah Ibn Masoud, asked Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him: “Allah messenger, what is the greatest sin?” He answered: “To worship partners besides him while He created you”. (B: Adam, 20 & M: Eman; 141)
He, prayer and peace upon him, also said: “He who takes for worship partners with Allah, Allah will send him to the Fire”. (B: Eman; 19 & a: 1; 374)
Those who take and worship equals besides Allah the Highest, are forbidden from entering the
Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, is very careful not to be seen as more than Allah’s slave and messenger. Ibn Abas, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: “A man said to Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him: “If Allah wills and you will”. He said to him: “Did you make me equal to Allah, only say “if Allah wills”. (A: 1; 283)
Allah the Highest, gave us plenty of evidence and signs, of His presence, of His creation and that He is only one. There is therefore no excuse for any one to take partners to worship besides Him, or not to believe, and worship Him only.
