1/16/2012 - Sorah Al Emran 1-4

Sorah Al Emran

1-4

-1- ALEF LAM MEEM

2- ALLAH, THERE IS NO GOD OTHER THAN HIM, THE LIVING, THE SUSTAINER.

3- HE SENT THE BOOK DOWN UPON YOU WITH THE TRUTH, CONFIRMING WHAT WAS SENT BEFORE IT, AND SENT DOWN THE TORAH AND THE ENGEEL.

4- BEFOREHAND, AS GUIDANCE TO MANKIND, AND SENT DOWN THE FORQAN (CRITERION).  THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE IN ALLAH’S AYAHS WILL HAVE SEVERE PUNISHMENT, AND ALLAH IS EXALTED IN POWER AND ABLE TO TAKE VENGEANCE.

It is reported that the first thirty Ayahs of Sorah Ala Emran were sent down on the occasion of the visit of the Christians of Nagran in Yemen to Medina to meet with Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him. They were arguing about the Quran as well as the relationship between Allah the Highest and Jesus peace upon him.

The first Ayah was discussed in Sorah Al-Baqarah as it is the same as the first Ayah of Sorah Al-Baqarah.

Allah the Highest is the living who does not die.  He does not begin and end like His creation; He is the Beginning and the End.  Allah the Highest was before every thing and is after every thing. Creating from nothing and all His creatures need him to be sustained, but He is self sustaining, does not need any thing or any body to be sustained.

Allah the Highest is the One and Only.  Does not have partners of any kind, like a spouse, brother, son or daughter, father or mother etc.  We need partners in business to help us, spouses, children etc.  Allah the Highest however is self sufficient. He does not need any one while every one needs Him.

Every thing in the Universe is sustained by Allah’s power.  We understand these powers as laws of physics, biology, chemistry etc.  All these laws are aspects of the Power Allah the Highest, which He places in the Universe and all things in it.  We can not break these laws, but we can use them.  Only Allah the Highest can break these laws, for He is the One who made them in the first place, when He does this, we call it miracle when it happens.

When Allah the Highest chooses to perform a miracle, or let a prophet, or even a righteous person, perform a miracle, it is to show Allah’s power or His support for this person.  This is because no one can breach these laws of nature except Allah the Highest who made them.  Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, said that Allah the Highest said: “Whoever has animosity with one of my Waly (Ally), I will wage a war against him.  My slave does not draw close to Me with any thing I love more than the duties I prescribed for him.  My slave will keep drawing nearer to Me until I love him.  When I love him I become the hearing he hears with, the sight he sees with, the hand he strikes with and the legs he walks with, and if he asks Me I will give him, and if he asks for My protection I will protect him.  (M: Reqaq; 38)

Allah the Highest sent the Book (Quran) confirming what is in the Torah and Engeel, which were the guidance before the Quran.

Allah the Highest calls the Quran also the Forqan (Criterion) for the criterion is what differentiates between write and wrong, good and evil, Halal and Haram. Allah the Highest said: “BLESSED IS HE WHO SENT THE FORQAN DOWN TO HIS SLAVE” (S: 25 A: 1)

The Forqan can also mean guidance in general term, for Allah the Highest said about Moses, peace upon him, “AS WE GAVE MOSES THE BOOK AND THE FORQAN, SO THAT YOU MAY BE GUIDED”.  (S: 2 A: 53)

The Original messages of the Torah, Engeel and Quran are very much the same, until alterations and changes were made in the Torah and Engeel.

“THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE IN ALLAH’S AYAHS WILL HAVE SEVERE PUNISHMENT, AND ALLAH IS EXALTED IN POWER AND ABLE TO TAKE VENGEANCE”

This is a warning to those who disbelieve in Allah and His book and the signs and evidence of His presence. Allah the Highest can punish and can take vengeance on those who mock Him and His messengers and Books, and His vengeance will be severe.  This is not Allah’s aim however.  Allah the Highest aims to guide people to the right faith and the right way to live, for Allah the Highest said: “WHAT WILL ALLAH GAIN BY PUNISHING YOU IF YOU EXPRESS GRATITUDE AND BELIEVE” (S: 4 A: 147)
