HATHA YOGA
Hatha Yoga postures are described in detail in the later pages of this book, with illustrations. The postures tune the body to withstand blissful experiences.
Ha means sun, and tha means moon.
Hatha represents opposite energies, hot and cold, positive negative, male and female, the sun and moon, night and day.
Solar energies are linked with intellectual processes while lunar is linked with intuitive. Hatha Yoga is an exact science of continually leading the body through stages to a point of one-pointed focus, focus of mind body spirit and divine union are experienced.
Hatha yoga is good for physical health, toning the limbs, massages internal organs, expands the lungs, lubricates joints and fills one with an overwhelming feeling of wellness. It fills you with energy zest and vigour. It is like all the happiest good morning stretches rolled into one perfect exact science of stretching.
Many of the yoga asanas were given inspiration from the flowers and animals whose names they bear, like the lotus posture and the cobra posture. Anyone who takes the time to practice asanas quickly becomes aware of the magical potency in their form.
BHAKTI YOGA
Bhakti Yoga is the path of devotion. It is what makes the impossible possible. Bhakti yoga sublimates all emotions into devotion. It is the approach of pure love. In bhakti yoga the yogi feels complete devotion. This devotion can be to some chosen deity, nature, spirit, consciousness, love. Whatever the yogi is devoted to must be eternal and indestructible. This is why it is generally best not to be a person. Bhakti yoga takes the form of prayer, singing and dancing, chanting, rituals, charity. The Yogi is completely devoted to the chosen one singing praises all day, feeling an indestructible love and emotion in the heart, every turning moment. Bhakti Yoga develops humility. We are primarily an emotional being, devotion does not have limits as it is aimed at something higher.
KARMA YOGA
Karma yoga is the yoga of service. It is the performing of actions not to reap the fruits thereof, yet for the sake of love. If we manage to govern our actions in a desire-less way then we will be truly eternally happy. To attain realisation we have to attain selflessness.
Selfless service is a true sign of being a spiritual being. Service means giving without selfish motivations or preconditions. Service must be from the heart, spontaneous and true. Service performed without love causes nothing but trouble. The mind should ever be directed toward the service of others. This is the Path of selfless service, a path of action. Renounce the fruits of all actions to become unselfish. Active service is essential for ones spiritual growth. Love vibrates in the form of service and love is the strongest force in this whole universe. Regard other’s pain or happiness as your own and you will develop infinite peace and understanding.
The laws of cause and effect are obeyed by everything in nature. Laws of relativity, attraction cohesion, gravitation and adhesion all operate with the strict law of cause and effect. This falls under the law of karma. Karma means not only action but also the result. yoga, maya, mayan, health, 2012, enlightenment, meditation
