• 2/8/2006 - Cover up

Posted in Thoughts

I just heard this story on the radio show I listen to about something which I have mixed feelings about, though I do not have any realy strong feelings one way or the other, I do have an opoinon and I know it is something that others might feel strongly about on one side or the other. The story was about the fact that the county (I belive Sacremento county, that is where the radio show airs from) has a new policy saying workers have to remove facial perings and hide tattoos, now this is something that have been discussed before with varrious different componies.

Now on the one hand I am not one of those people to belive in cataring to the belly achers, that are offended by anything and everything and think the rest of the world needs to not offend them. Becasue no one has the right not to be offended. And persoanly if you are offended by someone having percings or tattoos well that is just plain imature in my opoinion, I can understand not liking it, and not wanting to do it to yourself, but to actually be offended that someone else is doing it, as if that effects you in some way is just plain stupid.

On the other hand I can understand a bussiness of any sort not wishing to offend people for obvious reasons, and in bussiness you genreally do have to cater to the ninny babies to turn a profit, and well many different componies do have a dress code or some sort of uniform to wear, and if not having vissable tatoos and pericines is part of that, then you just need to suck it up, and if you really cannot handle having to take out your perinces or hiding your tatoos then don't get that job, otherwise, act like an adult and do what is expected of you at work and then when you are on your own time you are free to do as you wish.

In other words I can see both sides of the issue, and I do not have much pateince for those that whine and complain about it on either side. Both sides need to suck it up and get over the fact that now and then they might be faced with things they do not like.

Just as a side note, I have no perings or tatoos of my own, but I have no problem with them and some I think can look cool, and others I think look dumb or are just a little too much, but I am not against it in any way or offended, I will just laugh and make fun of you if I think you look stupid.

• 2/8/2006 - Double Take

Posted in Rants

As you all know by now, one of my faveorite things to do is rant about commercials, and now I think I have perhapas seen the worse one ever. When I first heard it I could not belive it, I did a double take. The commerial is for some product called Refresh or some such thing, and it is meant to control femeine odor as they call it. And in the commerical they say

After your period, after intercorse, after douche use Refresh, or some similler thing.

But I was just sitting there like, no way I did not just hear that.

I mean seriously those are two words right there that really should not be said on tv, in a commercial in the middle of the day, and if you do not which two words I mean of the three well then I do not know what to say to you.

That is the real kicker, the time they air this commerical is in the middle of the day when it is still light out, this is not one of those ridiculously late night/early morning ads where they can get away with just about anything.

• 2/7/2006 - The Merchant's Daughter

Posted in Poetry
The Merchant's Daughter

I know not why she wants
to go away, how I bet my
daughter to stay, but ever
she says me nay.

I forbid her to take
her leave, no man shall
she ever have, I deny her
every plea.

She knows not what is best
for her, but I determine
she will remain with me.

She cries how she will someday
flee for a lover she tried to
hide, but I know better then to
let her out.

She comes to me now, all
full of vigor, stamps her
foot and dares defy.

She commands that she
will turn her back to me,
and allow another man to
tend her needs.

I can only laugh and
grasp her slender wrist,
draw her near, how my hand
comes around her pretty
neck, and silence her.

Now forever I shall keep
keep her without the
slightest fear she will despair,
no more can she know discontent.

She is happy with me,
with none else to take
her, seeping now in full
splendor, never will she wake.

• 2/7/2006 - The Count's Mistress

Posted in Poetry

The Count's Mistress

There her portrait is,
smiling down from the wall,
to grace us all with her rosy
blush.

How alive she seems now
that she is frozen forever
in that happy glint.

Never do I remember her
being quite like that in
the flesh, near sullen
she was, she simply would
not please.

But now I say look upon her
all bright and warm, how much
I cherish this portrait of my sweet
more than I could ever have loved her.

Never did she please quite so
much with her wild temperament,
her ravings and complaining,
her quaint little frown.

But here, look now how
she beams always, never
to draw her lips down, never
to utter a word against this
or that.

How content now she is,
just a painting on the wall,
I know now I am in her favor,
as every time I pass by she
has her warm eyes lit upon me.

Frozen as she had never before
been, how I love this portrait
more then I doted upon the real
thing, for how cold she was when
she lived.

• 2/7/2006 - History of Gothic

Posted in Articles

The word goth or gothic has really been bastarized over time. So today when soemone speaks of the gothic there is a particular image or idea that comes to mind. Usually relating to a particular clothing style, type of make-up, hair style, the use of black, obcession with death, and so on. Gothic now is genreally identified with a particular group or clique of people most of whom who probaly do not even know what real goth is. So I will go over where gothic really came from and what it truly ment.

To start with the word Gothic or Goth came orginally from germantic tribes who were called the Goths, and they were one of the factors that led to the fall of the Roman Empire. They were a particular bloody, war-like and meaundering tribe. It was from the Goths in which gothic arctitecture was formed. Which most people are familler with. Some of the most famous cathedrals of Europe are done in the gothic style. The gothic cathedrals were large towering buildings with the flying buttresses, and high towers, use of arches, and so on.

Later down the road from there was the birth of the Gothic novel in the Romantic/Victorian age. One of the most famous of these is Frankenstien (the book is a completely different thing then the movie) but for the most part the gothic novel was not a horror story. There were certain elements which were needed to make a gothic novel, they were often suspenseful with sense of mystery, a hint of the supernatual. Gothic novels usually were a social commentary and critique, a story which was ment to show the people of the
time what was wrong with thier world. Jane Eyre and Northhanger Abbey are both gothic novels.

• 2/7/2006 - My Bazzar Humor

Posted in Thoughts

Ok, well I saw one of those HIV awarness add type things on tv and I decided that it was really a rather amusing ipod commercial, at first I know how that might sound and it is hard to imagine how I got that impression, but then I have a morbid sense of humor that can also be quite random, and I often have the habbit of reinterpting commericals in my head for my own amusment.

Well here is the gist of the commercial so try and explain what I mean.
First the screen is all black and it has white wirting that says 1 in 4 people who have HIV don't tell thier partners, not becasue they don't care, but becasue they don't know.

Then it shows a couple walking down the sidewalk together holding hands and on the screen underneeth it says Other then abstence there is one way to prevent HIV, then the words fade away and right at that point the couple stop and turn to each other and the guy has those ipod headphones and puts one in his ear and one in her ear, so I instantly think ipod prevents aids and then just start laughing and decide that is my faveorite ipod commerical.

PS if anyone is curious, after they showed the couple together with the ipod headphones, at the bottom of the screen it said something like use a condom. So that was the real point of the add.

Selling Religon

Mr. and Mrs.Hanady is it? I am telling you, I making you the offer of an eternity here, and to think it will only cost you the price of your souls. You will not find a better offer then this anywhere else I can guarantee you. Everything you need to seal your fate and secure your future in the afterlife is all right here in this handy-dandy instruction manual The Bible which mind you I am prepared to throw in for free. Now how can you turn down an offer like that?

But what does it do Mr.?.eh Cunnings was it?

What does it do you say? What does it do? Well now my good folks, just think of it, you will have your own genuine Jesus Christ to guide you through life, and a claim staked out in a beautiful corner of Heaven if I might say so myself. It is a simple as pie to operate. Just long as you follow the rules in your instruction manual, of course if you do deviate from the contract you will be sending your soul into damnation, but let us not worry about that. I am sure everything will work out just fine for you good folks.

Damnation? Well is there insurance? What if we are not happy with what our Christ does for us?

Insurance? Well no I am afraid not, once you have singed your soul over it is 100% non refundable, a life-time perchance. But if you are unhappy with what Jesus does for you, we do have store credit. I have several pamphlets here that you may look over if you decide to transfer your soul into one of our other stalks. I am sure you will find something you are happy with. Buddha has really been on the uprising lately and Allah is another crowd favorite. And of course Hinduism comes in a package deal but sales there have been down this coming year.

How do we know which one to pick? Is there an advisor we can go see to help us make the right investment for our soul?

Ah! Well now my good folks, it is a risk, nobody really knows how it will swing. There are a couple people I could refer you too, but really it is in your best interest to do your own reading. Of course this can be a most wonderful opportunity for you and all your family, but should you make the wrong choice, well by the time you find out it will be irreversible and you are going to have to suffer the loss, but let us not worry about that now my good folks.

We have been hearing some talk about a growing investment in Paganism, Can you tell us more about that? It sounds very flexible and offers more safety nets.

Shush now, we don?t want to start talking about that, it is all very under the table still. I personally think the Christ has been the most stable over the years; of course there are yet now studies to show how it has paid off in the end.

Well thank you for your time, well have to think it over and get back on you with what we decide.

Yes of course, have a good-day now, and let me give you my card, you can call me up whenever you have any questions about any of this. I know some of it might sound a little confusing but I am sure in the end you will make the right choice.

• 2/7/2006 - Rational for Vampires

Posted in Philosophies

I am left wondering if people really have a right to think vampires to be such inmoral and evil creatures, if you think about it then it truely does not make sense. Unless pepole are willing to say the same about themselves and are willing to shun themselves so in such a manner. What has a vampire done that is so different then what we oursevles do? It seems that the main outcry is agianst vampires is the blood sucking factor. Well they do have to surrive do they not? And is it there own fault that they were born to need human blood to sustian themselves? Speaking of which what do you think that hamburger you are eating is made out of? We eat other animals to surrive there is a shock. So then tell me what is the dffernece between you enjoying that juciy KFC and a vampire enjoying you? Very little if you can remove your egos from the equation and look at this rationally. And what is worse is that no only to we kill animals for food but we kill them for fassioan, fun and decoration. I have not heard of any cases of vampires wearing human skin coats, having human heads mounted over thier fireplaces or going out and killing humans at random becasue they enjoy it. They kill as far as i know only to eat. No, the true problem humans have agianst vampires is the fact that they cannot bear the thought of something being higher up on the food chain or something being stronger and smarter then they are. Well who says humans have to be on top? I think it would be kind of nice to have something a step above us.
