7/15/2013 - Have You Been Unintentionally Damaging Your Diet?
Posted in Unspecified

We all understand that one of the best foods for our diets are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These food items fill us with protein and energy. They keep the body nutritionally healthy with minimal calories while we work hard to reduce our fat at the gym. Did you realize, though, that a number of the foods you are eating that are supposed to be perfectly okay by dietary standards, could be keeping you from losing weight at a good pace? They could even be making you gain more fat! Check out a number of the foods that might be allowing you to accidentally sabotage your diet.

You aren't truly served by Sports Drinks. You've possibly been thinking that the sports drink is the easiest way to help your system feel much better after a workout. Most doctors concur, however, that if your workout is shorter than ninety minutes, drinking water should be fine. Sports drinks are full of sugar and calories and a lot of other things you don’t need like artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Choose chocolate milk for your beverage as a substitute. Your body uses the sugar inside the chocolate for muscle tissue repair and everyone knows how good milk is for you.

You do not need protein shakes. So many people believe that consuming a protein shake is a good way to halt cravings when it isn't meal time. The real truth is that for anyone who is already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is overload your system with protein. No matter what others think, protein is not stashed in the muscles, it is stored in your body as fat. If you've already consumed your daily allotment of protein that day, your whole body will just store the extra in your fat cells for later and that won't enable you to drop pounds or inches.

Pre-packaged deli meat isn't as healthy for you as you may think. It's typically considered that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread along with lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. The real truth is that pre-packaged deli meat has a large amount of preservatives and will provide you with about a third of your recommended sodium intake for the day. This is going to be specifically harmful if you are at risk of contracting heart disease. Instead of selecting deli meat, pick home grilled chicken or other poultry or fresh deli meat that you can get sliced at the deli counter. Yes you are going to pay more money for these choices but you will be healthier if you choose them.

There are a wide range of things that we assume will help us shed pounds like eating a whole wheat bagel each morning but the truth is that eating a bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon is a lot better for our health and waist lines. Ask your doctor which food items are right for you and then have those. If you give consideration and are mindful about which kind of food you let yourself eat, losing weight isn't going to be a terribly big deal.
