Rookie Error

Posted on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 in Personal

This morning I had been working on my training for my IT course.  I had stayed at home to try to get some work done on my training because I have been falling behind, and I was having way too many distractions when I tried to work at the office.

Well I'd been going at it for about an hour and a half, writing up my notes in notepad because all I needed was something really easy to write HTML in.

Have you ever had Notepad crash on you?  I never have until this morning.  And my rookie error?  I had not saved my work up till that point...

Needless to say I was a little frustrated and disapointed at that moment.  I took a walk, punched the pantry and got back to doing all that work again, saving every five minutes this time.

Scary thing about it though is that even though I lost half of my work for the morning I still got more done this morning on my training then I have in the last 3-weeks or so of trying to work at the office.  I'll be working at home again on my training Friday morning, saving my work every five minutes...

I once had a similar situation with about three+ hours of work on a sermon series. Sometimes I think God lets us make those kind of mistakes to improve the end product! I know I had a better sermon after losing it completely than I would have had otherwise. But it still pays to Ctrl S regularly!
