iTunes Australia Opens it's Doors

Posted on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 in Other
Okay, obviously there are no actual doors to open, but Apple has finally opened it's iTunes store in Australia.  I am not an iTunes user myself, probably because I don't have an iPod and it is a system resource hog even when it isn't running, butI know quite a few people who do use it.  Up till now they have needed to have an American billing address to buy music from iTunes, but not any more.

That said, the reviews that I have read so far are not very good.  It is quite expensive and is missing some major recording labels, like Sony BMG.  If you want to see what I mean when I say it's expensive you can read an article on Geeky Info to find out more:

Phil has also written a pretty good rant on the same site about CD Copy Protection and our lack of fair use laws for music in Australia:

Geeky Info: more music ranting

Our lack of fair use laws basically means that it is illegal to copy a CD for use as a back-up, to copy it onto your computer, to put onto tape or load on an MP3 player.
