Why do we have fat kids?

Here in Australia obesity in kids is extremely common. They are constantly bombarding parents with new ideas for their kids diets and all sorts of ideas.

One thing that I have noticed a lot is that today's toys really encourage our kids to be lazy and fat!  Take a look at the ride on toys for example.  Here is a ride on toy, probably one of my favourite toys, that was I used to own as a kid:

Now take a look at one of the common ride on toys for today's kids:



The main difference that you can see is that the top one is kid powered, the bottom one is battery powered.  You tell me which one would prevent obesity in our kids.

Or how about kid's scooters?

You make an astute observation. This is one reason I have fought keeping video games to a minimum at my house. Kids should play outside...running on kid power!
