Being a Christian On-line

Posted on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 in Other
A recent heated discussion about Christian Ministries using pirated / stolen software on ywamit.com got me thinking a lot about how we need to interact with people on-line. Because of the somewhat impersonal and anonymous way that communication can occur over the Internet it is quite easy to say something on-line that you would not say to someone face to face.  This can potentially lead to conflict and a breakdown in relationship, regardless of if the comment was meant in jest or if it was serious.

I read a great post from Think Christian about acting like a Christian on-line.  It links to a blog that I have not visited before but it's a great post:

Adrian Warnock's: Peace to all......principles for God bloggers
This is an ad revenue sharing blog.

It's a good read for any Christian who is interacting on-line whether through a blog, chat room, forums, etc.

As one who doesn't mind "stirring it up" on my blog, I find this link very helpful. I may say things in my blog posts that are my opinion. I try to come across with that caveat in mind because I realize other christians may not share that opinion. But it is good for all of us to practice some courtesy when commenting on other blogs. Disagreement can be good in the sense that it sends us deeper into the source of our convictions. But divisiveness is unchristian and not considered proper behavior for the Christian, according to Paul's warnings in Titus chapter 3. Thanks for reminding us of the difference.
