Van Tuong Nguyen's Final Prayer

Posted on Friday, December 9, 2005 in Other
This was written on the last page of Van Tuong Nguyen's 25 page prison diary:
Pray, may I not have failed you completely and by the grace of God, may you find strength and comfort in these words my heart now speaks to you, my brother and sisters.

I smile now as I prepare myself to return to the Lord. Please don't be sorry, but instead celebrate the life God has made possible.

These shall be my last words. But I will see you again.

It is now my time ... Fear not my brothers and sisters. Fear not.

Caleb Nguyen Van Tuong was only 22 when he made the biggest mistake of his life. He regretted his action and so many people can vouch that he was capable to be reformed. It was reported that even his prison guards cried when he was murdered by the Singapore government.

In his letter to the President of Singapore, he wrote:

"Although I am still learning to live my life without regrets, I have found some solace in accepting all my fallibilities as an integral part of my mortality, an attitude accredited to a life without God.

I accept responsibility for my actions.

Many transitions have taken place since December 2002, a culmination of which has changed me on a fundamental level. My discovery and conception of God into my life was, and is, the foundation for these changes.

The on-going process of these changes are: I am learning to love selflessly, to give and share all that is mine; I try to be more understanding and patient in everything I do and encounter; to be more considerate and accepting towards those around me; to be more compassionate, generous and gracious when helping those in need, especially on the minutest of tasks; to do something in place of nothing; I try to be less selfish, less self-centred and less self-righteous; to be less judgemental and more perceptive."

Despite every thing the totalitarian government under Lee Hsien Loong decided to murder him.

If there is anyone that needs to be put to death is Lee Hsien Loong and his cronies. Singapore has significant investments in Burma with the junta and the drug lords. So they resort to executing a drug mule while protecting and trading with the drug suppliers -what hypocrisy!

May the soul of Caleb rest in peace.
