Turning off the TV
Last week I was listening to a teaching by Loren Cunningham, who is the founder of Youth With A Mission (YWAM). It's entitled "Conditions to hearing God's Voice" and is pretty good, but it sure does cover a lot of stuff. In it he talks about fasting and since Tamara and I are currently processing some stuff about our future that we would really like to hear God about I started to think about what I could fast. My first thought was food, which is a pretty obvious one, but I'm not fasting that. My second thought was technology, but since I manage the network and web-site at work I didn't think that would work very well. So instead I decided to fast TV.
I still haven't heard specifically from God about what I'm praying about but because I'm not watching TV Tamara and I need to find other stuff to do in the evening. Last week we had one night where we probably spent more time talking then we had in a very long time. It was good and if I had not been fasting TV Tamara and I probably would have just sat down in front of that instead.
I don't know how long this TV fast will go for, but I don't think I'll mind if it goes on for a while, even after I do hear from God about what we're praying about (I bet your wanting to know what it is now eh?) ...
