Mac VPN Issues
Recently I have finally been able to pry a Mac away from our media department so that I can work on how to get it connected to the network and working with our network better.Probably the biggest problem that I have is connecting the users when they are away from our network or when they are on wireless. With our Windows PCs we just use the built in VPN, virtual private networking, client and it works just like you are actually connected to the network only slower. With the Mac I have finally today been able to connect using their VPN client, but even though it says I am connected I actually have no access to any of the network resources.
I've been pulling my hair out about this issue for a long time now. Every time a new version of Mac OS X comes out I hope that it will finally work, but it has not helped yet. I'll admit that part of the blame lies with my lack of understanding of the Mac system, but I really don't understand why it is so easy on the PC, but so hard on the Mac!
Heck, I have even managed to get Linux to connect to the VPN, but still not the Mac!
I'll be working on this for a while to go still and if I ever figure it out I'll write a post to tell how we did it.
