Removing Google Desktop

Posted on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 in Information Technology
A few weeks ago Google Desktop decided to freak out on me.  Below is the error that I got every time I tried to start it up:

In case you can't read it it says "Google Desktop has unexpectedly quit.  To restart, launch Google Desktop from the Start Menu".
This is an ad revenue sharing blog.

It gave that error just after boot up, and then continued to do it every time I tried to start it up again.  Despite my initial worry about installing it which I wrote about in my previous post Google Desktop I was actually finding it to be extremely useful. The area that I found it the most useful was searching for e-mails in Outlook, which was way faster than the default Outlook find feature.

After trying to re-install it, then removing it and reinstalling it and always coming up with the same error I finally decided to remove it completely.  I am now in the market for a new desktop search tool.  I guess that I will revisit my previous post, 500+ down to 155, where I listed a few of the different desktop search programs available...
