Internet Evangelism - Skype Calls

Posted on Thursday, January 19, 2006 in YWAM
I've been using Skype for quite a while for chat and making Internet Phone calls.  It's great for talking with people especially over seas as Skype to Skype calls are free.

One interesting phenomenon that I have experienced with Skype is people randomly calling or chatting to me know I have never met before. I used to get this with MSN Messenger as well, but those were usually spam messages or people trying to sell me things.  With Skype though the people who have randomly contacted me have generally been people who just want to talk to someone in Australia (I'm not sure how many people are disapointed when they get a Canadian accent instead of an Australian one though...).

I just read a rather innovative way of using Skype and this phenomenon for evangelism on the Youth With A Mission Woodcrest web-site.  You can check out the article here:

Glad you enjoyed the brief article on Skyping China. You've got quite the blog going on here, I'd say! I like the post on dual-booting Mac OSX and Ubuntu. I was thinking about trying that myself.
