Learning More About Macs

Posted on Monday, January 30, 2006 in Information Technology
I was listening to a podcast the other day that said that Macs world wide have about a 3.3% market share in PCs.  Somehow where I work at Reef to Outback - Youth With A Mission (YWAM) that number is probably closer to 40% or 50% when it comes to personally owned computers that our volunteers use for work purposes.

As such this has proven to be quite a challenge for me as the network administrator to get the systems to play well together. To learn more about it I have subscribed to a new podcast, Mac OS Ken.  I have also subscribed to a new blog called Typical Mac User.  I've already found some interesting stuff there, but nothing ground breaking yet.

I have found that as OS X has been developed further, most recently with Tiger, the ability for the systems to work together has gotten better, but it is still not perfect.  I have been writing a bit about what I am trying to work on and will continue to do so, especially if I can find solutions.
This is an ad revenue sharing blog.

Below are two of my previous posts about Macs:
I've made some progress with the Mac VPN issue and it appears that part of it might actually be a problem with the IP Address routing.  The PCs route properly, but the Macs don't.  So I don't know if I am more or less confused now, but at least I'm getting somewhere.
