Using Amazon Associates to Raise Support
As a full time volunteer I spend a lot of my time actually raising support and communicating with current and potential supporters. In addition to the usual sponsorship and fund raising ideas that we use I have also started to use other means to raise money. This includes adding Google AdSense to this site, as well as the Amazon link on the left to the current book or books that I am reading...A few other people that I work with around the world, mainly David Couper, has actually been thinking along the same line, looking for alternate and additional means of support. As we looked at this for ourselves, we also looked at how we could help others in similar situations.
Our first step into this is a new web-site reviewing books that we, or others around us, have read. This site is Blog About Books and it has started to grow as more and more people have added books to the site. Not only can we add content to it, but we are also looking at setting it up so that anyone who wants to can add book reviews to it. We are also looking at how we can better encourage discussion on the site on inidividual books, as well as on specific topics.
Today I actually read of another site, Church Marketing Sucks (one of my favourite sites for Christian Marketing), doing something very similar as they are a non-profit organization. You can read their article here, Church Marketing Sucks: Support CMS Through Amazon.
