Caring for An Introvert in YWAM

Posted on Monday, February 13, 2006 in YWAM
One thing that you need to know about YWAM is that there is an amazing depth of community and relationship within it.  Most of what happens is because of and through relationship, a lot more so than through a more corporate / business type set-up.

Because I am a fairly strong introvert I have found this means that there are lots of distractions and interruptions during the day as I get on with work. It is a challenge for me to go from working on a project, to answering questions, back to the project, onto the phone, etc.  To me that is quite draining.

I read a post on the iluminant blog that pointed me to an article entitled "Caring for your Introvert".  It's a great article, coming from an introverts point of view.

In addition to what the article talks about personally I needed to realize that I need to grow up a bit and realize that this is where God has called me, and that He has called us to live as a community of believers. Following God and His plan always involves sacrifice and giving up your rights, including the right to a quiet and sedate work environment.  At the end of the day I will be a lot richer for it...
