Canada Finally Gets a Leader Who Wants to Lead

Posted on Monday, March 13, 2006 in Other
I've been listening to Country 105 radio at work tonight as I updated some of my blogs and heard the news about Steven Harper, the Canadian Prime Minister, visiting Canadian troops in Afganistan.  This is the first time that any Canadian Prime Minister has visited a war zone since WWII!

Here are some quotes from him:
You can't lead from the bleachers. I want Canada to be a leader.

There will be some who want to cut and run, but cutting and running is not my way and it's not the Canadian way.

Your work is about more than just defending Canada's interests. It's also about demonstrating an international leadership role for our country.
Good to finally get a leader who might get it...

You can read the CBC Report of the visit here: CBC News: Canada committed to Afghan mission, Harper tells troops
