YWAM Giant in Fiji

Posted on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 in YWAM
When the director of YWAM - Reef to Outback returned from the Presidents Gathering in Fiji he told us of a giant who was doing a DTS in Fiji named Kaliova Seleiwau. He also showed us photos that made him look like a little child next to him, which is funny since our base director is over 6 feet tall and definitely not a small man.

On Saturday in the Fiji Times there was a story and profile of Kaliova. Here is an excerpt from the story:
Listening to Kali's story of how he became so tall is a testimony of its own. He was born like any other normal boy and lived blissfully until Form Five when he was diagnosed with brain tumour.

For three months he was bed-ridden with a swollen body. Just before he was to leave for surgery in Australia, he met a Jona who prayed for him.

"That was in 1998. Jona prayed for me and I was healed.

"Even the doctors were amazed because they could not find the tumour again," Kali said.

"But after that healing, I started to grow and now I'm seven foot eight."

When Kali was still a small boy, a Filipino doctor who had attended to his injured leg had warned him that if he was not careful about his health he would grow past a coconut tree, judging from the size of his palm.

Kali took it as joke. There are several giants around the world like Kali, all of whom grew into tall timber as a side effect of the surgery they underwent for a brain tumour.

But Kali believes he grew not as a side effect but as a blessing and anointing of his God.

He said if he did not get sick, he would not have met Jona, nor would he have realised that there was a purpose for him to continue living.

"The Lord saved my life because he has a plan for me and that is to serve him," Kali said.

"God's word states that 'before I formed you in the womb I knew and approved of you as my chosen instrument, and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; and I appointed you as a prophet to the nations'.
God is using Kaliova Seleiwau in ways that no other person could be used. It's amazing to read of the humility of this man and to read some of his testimony.
